exercises are moderate-to-vigorous in intensity, participants are
expected to be physically fit, have no underlying medical conditions,
and/or have been cleared by a physician. Your submission of the
completed PAR-Q+ form to the organizers is also a prerequisite to your
participation in this training.

Tertiary PE Program Rationale
The tertiary PE program is a response to the need for a coherent and
cohesive curriculum across all levels---from basic to tertiary
education. It reinforces and builds on the basic education program by
focusing on making learners adopt and adapt lifelong physical
activities.
What is PATHFIT 2?
• PATHFIT, or Physical Activities Toward Health and Fitness, is
not only a course title, but a term that explains the 'what’
and ‘what for’ of the tertiary PE program.

• It was coined by the Commission on Higher Education's


(CHED) Technical Committee on PE, Sports and Wellness
Management (TCPE-SWM) chaired by Dr. Larry A. Gabao from
2011 up to present.
What is PATHFIT 2?
Four courses constitute the program:
• PATHFIT 1 (Movement competency training),
• PATHFIT 2 (Exercise-based fitness activities,
• PATHFIT 3 & 4 (menu of courses that include a variety of sports
and dance, martial arts, outdoor and adventure activities, group
exercise).

• PATHFIT 1 is the foundation course and a prerequisite for PATHFIT 2.


Course Overview
PATHFIT2 builds on the foundation of motor skills (i.e., movement and fitness
abilities) achieved through core training. Learners will experience how
fundamental movement patterns progress or become more challenging
through time-under-tension or tempo, external loading and increase in
exercise complexity in core and resistance training. They will undertake
multiple and a variety of exercise programs that include mobility and
flexibility training, running, speed-agility-quickness training, and when ready,
power training. These programs are aimed at maintaining and/or enhancing
musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory fitness.
Course Overview
Through these, learners will:
(1) achieve consistency in their movement execution and exercise
techniques,
(2) achieve their personal fitness as well as physical activity goals
through prescribed and DIY fitness programs, and
(3) advocate for or promote fitness and physical activities.
Course Description
• In conjunction with fitness concepts, exercise and healthy eating
principles, learners will be able to enhance their fitness through
exercise progression and regression; adapt their movement
competencies to independent physical activity (PA) pursuits and
periodically evaluate their PA and eating patterns to monitor their
progress and achievement of personal fitness and dietary goals.
• It is aimed at helping the learner move well (or better) so they can
meet the demands of functional fitness and physical activity
performance. This enables the learner to move more and with
purpose.
