COMMUNICATION

The following procedures will be used for the communication between flight
attendants and flight-deck appropriate situation. The following verbal phraseology
shall be used for communication for the appropriate situations.

Pilot/Cabin Crew Normal/Non-Normal and Emergency Calls


Action Signal/Alternate
Signal for All passengers on-board seated and Purser (INTERCOM) : ‘’All
cabin crew are ready to close doors Passengers are on-board (number…)
May we close entry doors’’
PIC (INTERCOM): If ready: ‘’ You
may close entry doors.’’
If not ready: ‘’Standby”

Signal for Cabin is secure for first aircraft Purser (INTERCOM): Cabin is the
ground movement ( pushback and/or taxi) ready for first aircraft ground
movement

Signal for Slide or Slide rafts armed/disarmed if Purser (PA)Arm:Cabin Crew Arm you
applicable slides/slide rafts and cross check and report.
PIC(Delegated to FO) (PA) Disarm: Cabin
crew disarm your slides/slide rafts and cross
and report.
Purser (PA) (Arm):Cabin Crew Arm you
slides/slide rafts and cross check and report.

Signal before take off/landing Purser (INTERCOM): Cabin secure for take
off/landing

Signal for Takeoff PA: “CABIN CREW, Seat for take


off” (approx. 30 seconds prior to
takeoff)

Signal for Approach/Descent Pilot Monitoring PA: CABIN CREW, 10


minutes to Landing

Signal before Landing


PA: “CABIN CREW, seat for landing”
(approx. 2 minutes before landing)

Pilot/Cabin Crew Non-Normal and Emergency Calls


Signal to notify flight deck crew of hijacking Use the Security Code briefed before the
flight.
Signal for encountered turbulence Use of the seat belt chime

Signal for encountered moderate to severe PA: “CABIN CREW, PLEASE BE


turbulence SEATED”
Or Flashing of the information signs
(seat belt Double Chime )

PA during emergency descent PIC (PA): “ATTENTION CREW,


EMERGENCY DESCENT”

Purser (PA): MASK ON, FASTEN SEAT


BELTS

Signal On leveling off at safe altitude PIC (PA): EMERGENCY DESCENT


COMPLETE
Purser to Make a PA informing passengers,
“ATTENTION PASSENGERS,WE HAVE
REACHED A SAFE ALTITUDE YOU
MAY REMOVE YOUR OXYGEN
MASKS”
Announcement when NITS briefing is required PA: “PURSER TO THE FLIGHT DECK”
for non- normal, precautionary, or emergency
circumstances
Brace signal PIC (PA): “BRACE, BRACE”

Signal to Cabin Crew to await further PA: “ATTENTION, CREW AT


instructions STATIONS”

Upon identification of failure:

PA: “CABIN CREW, NORMAL


Signal to cancel possible evacuation: OPERATIONS”

Issue resolved, returning to gate or runway
