Activities (name-contact)

8. WORK METHODOLOGY:

Excavation of trenches
➢ Mark layout of the pipeline and obtain approval from the Client’s representative. Barricade sides of
trenches to be excavated.
➢ Start excavation works (Using manual labour or an excavator machine). Ensure that the width does not

exceed the maximum specified.

➢ Use a leveling instrument to make depth markings all along the length of the excavation. In certain

situations, it may not be practical to use a leveling instrument in a plumbing or sewerage installation. In

such cases, a tube level could be used.

➢ Allow for deeper excavations to accommodate the PCC base of inspection chambers and at collars/joints of

pipes.

➢ Additional care should be exercised for excavations deeper than 1.5m, especially in loose soils.

Arrangements should be made for shoring the sides of trenches.

➢ Care should be taken that excess excavations are always avoided. If in doubt, excavate less and take out

the extra depth in the next stage. Filled in soil invariably settles taking the pipe with it, disturbing

alignments.

➢ Ensure that excavated earth is always stored away from the edge of the trench.

External piping – Water supply

➢ Mark pipe lines in ground according to working drawing and provide barricading.

➢ Excavate trenches to required depths as per working drawings.

➢ Prepare base of trench for laying pipes, as per technical specifications.

➢ Lay the pipes on the prepared base and support them at adequate intervals.

➢ Test the pipes for leaks under pressure in the presence of client’s representative and maintain a ‘test certificate’

duly signed by the representatives of the client and contractor.

➢ Coat the pipes with the specified anti-corrosive treatment (if metal pipes are used).

➢ Provide encasement with sand/granular material, if specified.

➢ Backfill trenches in layers including compaction.

External piping - Sewerage & Storm water

➢ Mark pipelines in ground according to working drawings.

➢ Excavate trenches to required depths with proper barricading.

➢ Prepare base for laying pipes.

➢ Lay pipes according to specified gradient.

➢ Perform hydraulic/smoke test and obtain certification form client’s representative.

➢ Provide encasement with concrete / sand/ granular material, as specified.

➢ Backfill trenches in layers including compaction.

ShaftPiping

➢ Mark for pipes on the plastered shaft walls according to details in the working drawings. Ensure that the

plastering is completed as it will be almost impossible to plaster walls after the pipes are in place.

➢ Fix brackets as per details shown on the working drawings. A clear gap of 25 to 50mm shall be maintained

between pipe and wall surface.

➢ Clamp pipe assemblies on to the brackets. Make sure the pipes are in ‘line’ (horizontal runs) or in ‘plumb’

(vertical stacks). Where expansion / contraction will be a concern, ensure that pipes are not rigidly held to

brackets.

➢ Make cut-outs on the shaft walls for branch pipes at locations shown on the drawings.

➢ Insert sleeves wherever required. Ensure that annular space in sleeves is not more than 25mm. annular space

shall be filled with yarn and flexible sealant after installation of pipe through the sleeve.

➢ Provide branches on the pipe assembly for connections to internal pipe work. Provide isolating valves on water

supply pipes at locations shown on working drawings; at easily reachable heights.

➢ Test the pipes for leaks under specified pressure for the specified duration.
➢ Tests must be witnessed and approved by client’s representative.

➢ Paint the pipes as per approved colour code and provide identification labels where called for.

➢ Take measurement of pipes installed. A representative of client must be present and should acknowledge the

records.

➢ Terminate soil, waste and vent pipes with vent cowls at specified heights above terrace level. Ensure that vent

cowls are not terminated within one meter (horizontally and vertically) from any window openings.Terminate

water supply risers with automotive air vents (with isolating valves) and down pipes with drain plug/drain valve

– all as per drawings. Ensure that water supply pipe work would be self-venting and self-draining.

➢ Connect the soil stack(s) to inspection chamber(s) at ground level.

➢ Connect waste stacks(s) to the gully trap(s) at ground level. Connect the gully trap(s) to the inspection

chamber(s).

Pipes in wall chases

➢ Make sure that walls are at least rough-plastered and finish levels are marked by the civil contractor. If proper

cladding levels are not marked, the pipes could be too deep or too shallow inside. Pipes deep in the wall will

require use of extension nipples at faucets. Wall flanges of concealed stop cocks, concealed shower mixer etc

will not fit-in correctly.

➢ Mark pipe lines on walls as shown on the working drawing.

➢ Chase the walls to required depth using a chasing machine.

➢ Assemble piping starting from branch left in shaft and install in the wall chase with clamps. Use pre-fabricated

assemblies wherever possible.

➢ Locate fixture outlets according to working drawing and tile-module drawings. Title modules shall be marked on

walls by the civil contractor.

➢ Plug all openings and test the pipe work for leaks under specified pressure and for required duration. Test should

be witnessed and approved by authorized personnel.

➢ Apply anti-corrosive coating or wrapping on the pipe, as specified (if metal pipes are used). Ensure that the

tested pipe joints are not disturbed.

➢ Insulate hot water pipes with the specified material.

➢ Note: Wherever possible, pipes may be pre-insulated/pre-wrapped, leaving joints, prior to installation in the

wall chase.

➢ Close the wall chases with cement mortar. If site conditions require a depth of more than 100mm to be chased,

it is advisable to use a suitable mesh while plastering and ‘making good’.

6 Pipe.sinsunken.floor.or.suspendedin.ceiling.(Drainage)

➢ Make sure that base water-proofing of toilet floors is completed.

➢ Locate and mark positions of soil and waste outlets. Make core drills where necessary.

➢ Assemble pipe headers and connect them to branches left in the shaft for this purpose. Pre-fabricate wherever

possible.

➢ Make sure that pipes are in proper slope and are supported adequately. Always ensure that the spacing of

supports is as per specifications. Ensure that floor traps are installed in level (not tilted) so that the water seal

is not diminished.

➢ Test the pipes and attend to leaks, if any.

➢ Supervise the filling of sunken floors by civil contractor so that the alignment and slope of drainage pipes are

not disturbed. It is in the plumbing contractor’s interest to ensure that water proofing of the core drills is done

and tested.

➢ Keep all open ends plugged to prevent ingress of construction debris.

Sanitary fixtures & CP fittings

➢ Flush the installed pipe work (water supply and drainage) to remove debris or blockages, if any.
➢ Install sanitary fixtures, faucets and washroom accessories. Use screws with nylon washers to fix vitreous

chinaware and PTPE tape for installation of faucets to pipe work.

➢ Check CP fittings for leaks and firmness. Refit them if necessary. Ensure that proper tools are used. They

must not make scratches or any other kind of damages on the chrome plated fixtures.

➢ Commission the toilets in the presence of the client’s engineer.

➢ Handover the toilets formally using the forms provided for the purpose.

➢ Disinfection
➢ The water distribution system should be thoroughly disinfected before being put to use. The following
simple procedures will ensure satisfactory results:

➢ Flush and clean water tank(s) and distribution pipe work with potable water to remove dirt and any foreign

matter.

➢ Fill the tank(s) with water mixed with chlorine solution at the rate of 50 parts per million. Retain chlorinated

water in the system allowing the chlorine to spread throughout pipe work.

➢ Open the farthest draw-off points or drain plug/valve to draw water. Repeat the procedure till odour of

chlorine is felt at all locations when checked at random.

o Drain out chlorinated water and fill the system with potable water.

11. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

As it is said, safety first .. This is a fundamental principle of any design, what is the benefit of the work of the most
beautiful and luxurious design if this design led us to incidents of sliding or fire, God forbid? Regrettably, most of
the injuries of domestic accidents occur in toilets, either because of slips or in the bathroom or incineration of hot
water, God forbid. Design should be reviewed in terms of freedom of movement and ease of use and use of safe
materials in the implementation of toilets. And to the importance of safety conditions, let us ask ourselves these
questions and hope that the answer yes .. (You can review and print the list of safety requirements at the bottom
of the page)

1) Is the entrance to the bathroom wide enough and easy to enter and exit in emergency situations I appreciate
God? Are there impediments to the free access of paramedics with the necessary ambulances? Preferably not less
than the width of the bathroom door at least 80 cm.

2) Are door keys suitable for user age? For children under the age of 5, it is best not to put any key and teach
children to close the door only. It is always recommended to use the fixed keys (see picture) to open the key from
the outside if necessary, and put the key in a well-known and easy to access in case the user can not open the door
from the inside for any reason.

3) Is the quality of floor tiles and bathtub floor coarse and non-slip? Is there a leaking source of water that can
cause slippage? Is the bathroom floor permeable with a suitable tilt that allows the water to flow into the drain
without leaving large spots or pools on the floor? There is no doubt that the floor of the bathroom will be exposed
to occasional water spills (eg, when you are out of the shower or cleaning time). Therefore, precautions should be
taken to place carpets or cotton towels for toilets.

4) Is the water heater properly threaded out of the water cycle? Know that old designs (and perhaps current ones
too!) Place individual heaters inside toilets, and this is undoubtedly a serious risk for children and the elderly.
Unfortunately, we are concerned with the periodic maintenance of the equipment, but wait until it is completely
damaged to replace it with a new one. In the case of internal corrosion of the heaters or damage to the
connection, this may cause hot water to flow violently in all directions, which may cause burns to the user or
confined inside the bathroom. We suggest that central heaters should be installed and placed in a safe place (eg in
the roof or in a private cabin) or, at the very least, placing individual heaters on the outer wall of the water cycle
instead of inside.

5) Are the lighting switches and electrical outlets placed inside the bathroom and in suitable places and far from
sources of water leakage? We recommend that you minimize the use of electrical appliances (razors, hair dryers,
etc.) in the toilets as much as possible, or use battery-powered devices such as shaver and tooth brushes.

6) Is there flammable material inside the water cycle? If yes, did we keep the sources of ignition away from them?
Many candles are lit to create a romantic atmosphere in the main water cycle, which is undoubtedly a wonderful
idea. Just make sure that the candles are placed in suitable places and not close to any flammable materials
(especially plastic blinds) and wooden cabins.

7) Have you installed metal or plastic handles on the walls in the shower and bath area? These areas play a key role
in the ease of getting out of the bathtub or maintaining balance if one of the feet slips. The importance of these
spaces is highlighted in the toilets serving the elderly where they can be placed in the shower area, bath and chair
also to help to promote and prevent slipping and falling.
8) For the marble and the surfaces of the laundries and faucets, have you been sure that the sharp angles have
been properly cut and trimmed and that the sides are "shaved" in a circular way to prevent friction with the body
and cause cuts or scratches?

Water cycles are always wet because of the water and steam in them, and they are also usually warm,
representing an environment suitable for breeding bacteria and fungi. For this reason, the design should be
considered suitable ventilation, the brightness of the sunlight at an appropriate angle and the continuous renewal
of the air by opening the window or suction fans.

Are the drainage holes designed in a geometrical manner and according to the sanitary measurements and
requirements required in the drawings and building codes? Are we sure that the plumber has put the P-TRAP or
so-called "spindle" properly under the drain hole of the sink or shower?

Can all cavities and storage areas be accessed and cleaned periodically to prevent fungal proliferation? Is there
enough space to clear and clean the places under the sink, behind the chair and the bidi? Is the size of the suction
fan suitable for rapid ventilation of the water cycle?

Note: Many prefer to make wall cavities inside the bathrooms for use in the placement of towels, washing
machines or aromatic candles, which is undoubtedly a beautiful idea and practical storage. Only to ensure that the
cavities are easily accessible and cleaned continuously, otherwise this surface will be the best environment
suitable for the propagation of fungi and germ

Some people are very interested in the details of the shape and the colors of the tiles and the health kits at the
expense of the process. In other words, the water cycle is practical in the sense that the quality of the sanitary
equipment and accessories used in the water cycle is appropriate and reliable to obtain the desired service
satisfactorily. For example, the market is full of different species, designs and brands of health products and from
various industrialized countries, but this does not necessarily mean that it is convenient and practical.
Have you thought about the quality and quality of health items for use without the need for constant
maintenance? If a device needs maintenance or replacement, is it possible to do so easily and without expensive
cracking? Have you considered, for example, the quality of the siphon box whether it is the open or concealed type
in the wall and how easily is it available for maintenance?

Is the quality of blenders, shower head and swabs of a well-known brand of high quality and suitable for the
desired purpose? Is the water faucet in the sink properly positioned and easy to use to wash your hands or feet (eg
ablution)? Has the distribution of sanitary ware been carried out in a deliberate manner to suit practical use?

Have the floorings of the bathroom been properly implemented to ensure that the water flowed into the drainage
hole properly and without creating water pools in the middle as mentioned above? Are the lighting lights in the
bathroom properly distributed and at each sanitary ware (chair, sink and shower)? Is an electric plug placed in a
suitable place at the mirror to be used to charge the shaver?

Be convenient for repeated use:

This means that the user will feel the privacy of the water cycle and the complete comfort during the daily and
repeated use of tools and devices placed in the water cycle. This element includes the proper distribution of
various sanitary appliances and their places for each of them (chair, bidet, sink, shower, Jacuzzi, lighting switches,
air suction fan etc.), and even the location of the toilet door for the room in the case of the main water cycle. This
is undoubtedly one of the most important things to consider when designing a water cycle. Here are some of the
questions that fall within this important element.

For sanitary pipes, high quality pipes were used to isolate the sound of water during use, especially for the so-
called American system (you can refer to the subject related to the Raupiano sound system on this page).

Is the window outlet and size suitable and do not expose the user to the water cycle? Have you checked that the
distances between each sanitary device are suitable for repeated use (there are requirements for spaces between
sanitary appliances and distance from walls for ease of use and cleaning)? Are the lighting keys clear and easy to
access at the entrance?

Is there a barrier, for example, a wall or a cusp (and especially a stalactite) between the chair and the sink that can
be removed or removed? Is the sink near the bathroom door for easy access or is it placed in the wrong place at
the end of the bathroom (the sink is supposed to be closest to the door of the bathroom for repeated use more
than the chair or consultation)?

Is the tile quality used for flooring comfortable to walk and non-slip even with some water spills on it? Is the
lighting convenient for the eye and sufficient for shaving or hair removal .. Etc.? Does natural lighting fit enough to
light up the water cycle in the morning and without the need for industrial lighting?

In conclusion, these conditions and questions may appear to be many and difficult to implement in a single water
cycle. But the duty is to try to reach as much as possible to a typical water cycle to ensure you complete comfort in
the house of age, God willing.

Method of statement for installation of gypsum partition

Purpose of the Method of Statement

The Objective of this Method Statement is to describe the steps involved in gypsum board
installation to the wall as drywall and partition all following approved shop drawings, ensuring
safety, perfection and durability.
Description of Work

1. The work is regarding the wall partition and drywall, as well as false columns and
other design, explained in the work plan as to cover the ceiling with the required and
recommended dimension, elevations, and levelness all as per the shop drawings.
2. Proper Standard material required for the installation of gypsum wall includes the
required wall studs and blind rivets that will fasten to the concrete wall or bare wall. With
enough black screw to tighten the gypsum board to the steel framing lay according to the
layout specified.
Delivery, Storage and Handling

• To reduce the risk of damage, plasterboard should be delivered to the site just
before installation.
• While handling and storage, Gypsum sheets should be transported in an ‘upright’
position with particular care taken to protect the edges from any damage.
• Plasterboard should be kept in tidy, balanced stacks off the ground/floor in a
damp-free covered area. This will prevent sliding and minimize deterioration to board
edges and surfaces.
Installation

1. Before installing plasterboard, a building should be thoroughly checked to ensure

that the framing is plumb, level and square other trades have finished their ‘rough ins’.
2. The spacing of studs, battens take into consideration the spacing required by the
linings given in the Frame Spacing table. When the installation is accomplished, the
plasterboard will comply with the recommended level of finish.
3. Before installing plasterboard, a building should be thoroughly checked to ensure
that the framing is plumb, level and square other trades have finished their ‘rough-ins’.
4. Before fixing plasterboard to steel framing, check that the framing has been
assembled and erected following the manufacturer’s instructions. All contact surfaces of
the steel frame are dry, tidy and free from contamination such as oil, grease and dirt.
5. Steel furring channels are fixed at right angles to the underside of joists utilizing
clips or fasteners.
6. Anchor clips for false ceiling installation are used to fix steel furring to a concrete
slab ceiling. Furring channels should be spaced as per the sheet thickness given in the
Frame Spacing.
7. Carefully plan the installation. Sheets should be set out to ensure the best
coverage and to minimize butt joints and waste. Plasterboard is normally applied
horizontally in residential construction and is very important if a Level of Finish of 3, 4, or
5 is recommended. However, the sheeting may be fixed vertically if it is to cover the
whole wall.
Provision of the Control Joints in Walls and Ceilings at:

• Maximum of 12 meters intervals in both directions

• Every change of material
• 0ver control joints in the substrate
• Every change of substrate material.
• Plasterboard Should be adjusted to the Substrate Using One of the Following
Systems:
• Combination adhesive and fastener.
• Screw fixed only.
• Nail fixed only.
A variety of trimming exist for finishing corners, edges and joints of plasterboard to create neat
sharp lines, minimize cracking and to offer a higher level of impact resistance. trimming of
plasterboards may be adjusted with nails, staples or with cornice adhesive and then stopped and
accomplished with the normal 3-coat system.
A Shadow Line Effect is Required Such as:

• Plasterboard and masonry wall junctions

• Ceiling and wall junctions
• Door and window jambs.
Supervision

Installation is to be carried out by the experienced and competent installer who has expertise
inboard installation. They are accompanied by unskilled assistants. Supervisor. Site Project
Engineer/Architects will be available for coordination and communication with other

Method Statement for Application of waterproof

1. Purpose and scope

The purpose of this method statement is to describe the measures and ways of the proper
application of waterproofing membrane in our project. Work shall be carried out as per
the drawing and project specifications.

2. Work procedure

2.1 Work preparation and application of primer:

Any undulations or protrusions on the surface would be removed to obtain a smooth

surface. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned and free from dust, dirt loose materials,
oil, or grease.

50x50mm size fillet made of cement-sand (1:3) mix would be placed along corners of walls
or neck columns and any other junctions.

2.2 Application

For horizontal waterproofing membrane application. Two layers of 4mm thick modified
bituminous membrane shall be laid fully torched on blinding concrete with a minimum of
100m side laps and 150mm end laps.

The blinding surface shall be primed with the bituminous primer recommended by the
manufacturer of the membrane prior to placing the membrane. Prior to succeeding works,
the applied primer shall be inspected by the Engineer 24 hours after the placement.

Waterproofing membrane installation shall be performed using cylinder fed propane gas
torch, trowel to seal the seams of the membrane and knife for cutting.

The membrane is then placed in the correct torching on position then re-rolled for about
half of its length without changing its orientation.

The membrane is then un-rolled again and torched on pressing the melted area against
the substrate.

Repeat till the entire length of the membrane is bonded firmly onto the surface then the
second membrane is laid in the same way with an overlap of 150mm at the end and
100mm at the side.
An extra length of minimum 300mm of the horizontal membrane shall be left to carry up
the vertical surface to maintain continuity of the membrane and be protected as above.

For vertical application, two layers of 3-4mm thick modified bituminous waterproofing
membrane shall be applied to all vertical surfaces of united shoring or block works wall.

Before applying the waterproofing membrane, concrete surfaces shall be primed

with bituminous primer recommended by the manufacturer of the membrane but then
again it should be inspected by the Engineer 24 hours after the placement.

The extra portion of 300 mm of the horizontal membrane left shall be turned up and
wrapped on to the vertical primed surfaces. The continuity of the membrane shall be
maintained by minimum laps of 150mm.

The membrane on the exposed external vertical surfaces shall be carried up to a minimum
of 150 mm above the finished ground level (i.e. sidewalk, parapet, etc.) and tucked into a
continuous groove provided for the same and secured firmly with approved
sealant/mastic recommended by the manufacturer of the membrane.

The membrane fixed on the gunited or concrete wall shall be protected from any damage
due to re-bar fixing, form works, concreting of the raft, retaining wall works with approved
type protection board fixed to the membrane.

All areas of the membrane exposed above ground shall be protected with appropriate
flashing.

Inspection would be submitted for approval of the Engineer.

Before fixing of steel reinforcement for foundation, the membrane shall be covered by
one layer of polythene sheet and poured with 50 mm thick layer of cement-sand screed.

4. Safety

All works shall comply with safety procedure or instruction as set out in project safety plan
and municipality rules and regulations. All safety recommendations as advised by the
approved sub-contractor.
