PROCEDURE
Using paint brush or roller brush, apply sufficient amount of Apollo glue
and spread it in the whole area where the dry pack will be placed.
In a mixing board, mix one (1) bag of Portland cement (40kgs) and four (4)
bags of sand (30kgs) or five (5) bags of sand (25kgs). Use a flat shovel
for mixing.
Haul the mixture to the area using a pail or wheelbarrow.
Spread the mixture evenly over the area with steel trowel (kutsara). Level
the mixture well for easier tile setting (Check levelness using the installed
nylon string)
Mount a tile sample without the tile adhesive on top of the dry pack. Use
a rubber mallet to press it down, level and align with the guides.
For mixing, use plastic pail as mixing base.
The ratio of the tile adhesive mixture is 5-6 liters of clean water to a 1 bag
or 25kgs of tile adhesive powder.
Pour water into container and add tile adhesive powder that can be used
within the pot life of 1-2 hours. Use a mechanical mixer w/ high torque and
low velocity for mixing. Keep on mixing for about 10-15 minutes to attain
desired consistency.
ENGINEERS + CONTRACTOR + BUILDERS
Carefully lay the tiles upside down on a pre-fabricated casting bed. Make sure the tiles are pre-cut, clean and
dry.
Use a paint brush or a roller brush to evenly spread the Apollo glue on the
tiles.
After applying the Apollo glue, damp tile adhesive on top of the tiles and
use a notch trowel to spread the tile adhesive evenly to the tiles.
Sprinkle enough amount of water just to wet the dry pack mixture. Transfer
the prepared tiles with adhesive to the area.
Lay the tiles one by one on top of the dry pack. Ensure that each tile is
leveled and aligned. Use a rubber mallet and gently tap the tiles until it
reaches the required elevation. Check its alignment with a frame square or
a set square. Repeat the same procedure with the other tiles until the
whole area is completed.
Use a spacer in between tiles to ensure they are aligned and are uniformly
spaced from each other.
The process of tile application is just the same as the dry pack type.
For wet type method, dry pack application or the mixture of cement and sand ratio is replaced by a concrete
topping.
For checking of levelness along the tile joints, you can use a level bar
and place it along the joints or slide a coin (back and forth) to the tiles to
ensure its levelness.
After tile installation, check all the tile if there is any “kapak”.
You can check it by tapping a coin on to the tiles one by one.
After all the floor tiles are already set, wipe the wall using a wet
rag.
Apply sufficient amount of Apollo glue and spread it in the
whole area.
Apply the tile adhesive on the concrete base, not on the
underside of the tiles.
Transfer the prepared tiles with adhesive to the area. Use a
rubber mallet and gently tap the tiles until it reaches the required elevation.
Check its alignment with a frame square or set square.
Initially lay the second layer of tiles horizontally. Ensure that each tile is
leveled and aligned.

Use a spacer in between tiles to ensure they are aligned and are uniformly spaced from each other.
Install the third layer and rest of the tiles horizontally. Use corner beads for corners and edges of the wall tiles.
After tile installation, clean the tiles using a sponge.
In a mixing pan, mix the tile grout with water. Usually, the ration of tile grout
to water is 3:1.
Tile grout is best applied at least 24 hours after the tile setting. This will
reduce the damage on the tiles.
Apply the mixture in between the spaces of the tiles using a putty blade. Use
a rubber float to spread the mixture evenly on the spaces.
Wipe-out the remaining excess grout on top of the tiles with a wet sponge or
foam.
After tile grout application, make sure to clean the area. Remove laitance
and dirt.
Cover the tiles with rubber matting or polyethylene sheet to avoid breaking,
dismantling and scratching on tiles while doing other works.
Make sure to clean the area and all the tools and equipment that were used.
Keep safe all the tools that were used to avoid misplacement of the tools
