Module Title: MODULE 2 ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING

Course Title: ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT IN LEARNIGN 1
Course Number: ED 106
Student Name: Mariza J. Girao BEED-3C

LESSON 1: Using Assessment to Plan Future Learning Goals

Pre-Assessment Activity 1: Interview

In this activity, you are tasked to interview one teacher of your

institution or from other institutions. Use the following as your
guide.
1. What is your definition of assessment?
2. What common assessment techniques are you utilizing in
the
classroom setting?

Analysis
Let us now examine the answers from your interview.

QUESTIONS ANSWER

1. From the interview, what have you I had learned from Ma’am Kisiami P. Pedroso
learned about assessment? that Assessment has three main purposes;
Assessment for learning, Assessment of
Learning and Assessment as Learning.
Assessment is referring to wide variety of
methods or tools that educators use to evaluate,
measure and document the academic readiness,
learning progress and skill acquisition or
educational needs of the students. Additionally,
I learned that through assessment we can
diagnose students’ weaknesses about the topic
that will going to teach to them by asking
questions and reflecting own learning
experience.
2. How did the teacher conduct Ma’am Kisiami conducted assessment in her
assessment in his/her class? Do you class by giving pre-test, quizzes, written,
think it is effective or not? concept maps, focused questions, unit test,
summative, self and peer assessment. She also
said that you can assess your students by
merely asking questions and observation. Yes,
for me it is effective specifically when she
mentioned the part where she assessed her
students through simply asking questions and
observation.
3. In the future, what are the As future educator you get to know your
assessment techniques that you will students better through asking questions and
use based on the interview? Why? merely observing them inside and outside the
classroom or school because I believe that test
is an assessment but not all the assessment is in
the form of test. We should know the
background of our students why they can’t
perform well in our class or why they are active
in terms of participation. As a technique we
should not be angry if they answered us
incorrect or far from what we are asking for,
instead encourage and motivate them to study
well, teach them the correct answer and guide
them to the pathway of success.
4.What can you conclude from the I concluded from the activity that Assessment is
activity? important to teachers and students. It is a way
to check \student’s strengths and weaknesses, to
know how they well are in the subject matter
and how deep is their understanding, how far
they’ve gone with the subject.
Evaluation Now that you have recognized and understood the use of assessment,
you are tasked to list down supporting student activities to attain each

mastery of the four fundamental operations.
2. Teacher John, handling Science class, wants his students to
have mastery of their lesson about conversion of units of
measure before he advances to the next lessons. He does not
simply aim for concepts but he wants to have his students
acquire the skill in converting unit of measures.

Analysis
Let us now check how you examined the situations presented
above.

QUESTIONS ANSWER

1. What are the factors you have The factors that I have considered in the
