1. SCOPE / OBJECTIVES
1. This Method Statement details general procedures to be followed for setting and lay-out
plan on actual location, laying of tiles, mixing of mortar tile grout, final laying of tiles, and
all other related activities.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. BQA Project Engineer is responsible to coordinate with the GMEC authorized
representative, project acceptor and/or the end user for obtaining required
and necessary work permits – if any, prior proceeding with works.
2. BQA Project Engineer shall ensure that the resources are available to carry out
the works as scheduled.
3. BQA Project Engineer / Site Engineer is responsible to carry out the works as
per approved detailed Engineering drawings and Method Statements.
4. The Site Engineer / Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the work has been carried
out as per specifications and approved construction drawings and inspections are
done as per contract.
5. The Site Engineer is responsible to ensure that the work performed is in compliance
with the approved method statement and other project requirements / specifications.
6. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that all safety precautions are in place and
that the personnel on site are equipped with the required and necessary PPE.
7. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that the required work permits are
available prior to the commencement of the work.

4. PROCEDURE
4.1 Preparation
1. Cleaning of completed floor slab and masonry wall prior for start survey marking and
layout. Layout and put marking on the concrete floor slab the correct tile layout and
make sure it is aligned with the markings on the masonry wall for tiles.
2. Do not begin tiling work until concealed conduits, pipes, electrical cables, electrical
boxes, etc. that penetrate the tiling have been fixe securely in position and making
good is completed.
3. Discard any tiles that are chipped or cracked.
4. Cut tiles neatly and accurately.
2. Clean the floor slab remove/chip harden mortar or concrete. All area of slab should be at
the required level.
3. After cleaning the slab mix a cement and sand slurry and pour at the area where the
installation occurs before the mortar bedding.
4. Follow the approved drawing where the first tiles location installed, first tiles should be
the guided for installation.
5. When the mortar bedding (1:6.5) is in the proper level install/fix the tiles.
6. Apply thin set mortar on the tiles in thickness 3-4mm.
7. Set the tile with thin set mortar onto the bedding mortar and used rubber hammer to
push up to the correct level and correct location.
8. Tiles must be correctly positioned at the time they are placed and laid with
joints.
9. Use 2mm tiles spacer to keep the joint of each tile.
10. Control the overall level of the finished floor by means of a spot check level.
11. Provide 1% slope going to floor drain (areas with floor drain).
12. Set out the tiling width joints of consistent width, ensuring they are horizontal and
parallel.
15. Use the approved grout and apply the grout in every joint smooth, level, and clean
application.
