1. Introduction
This manual is contained construction, function, operation, installation and maintenance of the MCX -
5000 series auto-exchanger system.
The MCX - 5000 series auto-exchanger system has been designed reliable semi-conductor,
micro-computer control "DTMF" system. The system is carefully designed about ability of the drip- proof,
water-proof, impact-proof and corrosion-proof because of marine use for bad circumstance.
The system is designed from 24 lines to 128 lines by step 8 lines each.
The MCX – 5000S be tested and approved according to IEC 60945.

1. Installation Guide
1.1 System Connection Diagram
2 General
1.1 Planning
The installation should be planned in details before commencing. The cables should be listed in a cable
plan, with number of pairs etc. The location of each unit in the communication system should be planned to
obtain maximum performance and user availability.
1.2 Power
The operating power is 220VAC 60Hz as primary, and 24VDC as backup. With automatic switching
between primary and secondary power source.
1.3 Marking
Each cable is to be marked with cable numbers.
Each conductor is to be marked with the specific termination numbers.
Please note that MRC uses plug-able screw terminals in all units.
1.4 Fastening
Where applicable, the cables and the conductors shall be clamped to the structure with cable ties.
1.5 Preservation
Prior to, during, and after installation the equipment must be handled with care. And protected against acid
holding fluids, pollution, moist, impacts etc.
This is in order to avoid damaged equipment, for which MRC will claim void warranty.
2.9 Connection diagram among I.S. barrier box (BB-922), telephones and peripheral devices.
This telephone system is designed for intrinsically safe construction and proper ignition grade (IIC
T6) so that it can be communicated in hazardous area where gas can be exploded.
In order to be intrinsically safe, energy and energy storage must be constrained to “safe” levels in
hazardous area apparatus. Wiring inherently has capacitance formed by a dielectric material between
two conductors.
2) Electric Specifications
① Flash Button (): If you have wrong number during link to subscriber, retrying push the on-hook
button.
② Redial Button(R/P): It could be automatic dialing to subscriber number in the latest time.
③ Call Signal Lamp:
-1. You can see blinking the phone signal lamp, when you got the calling.(Neon Lamp)
-2. The lamp is on in using time.(Red LED)
④ Magnetic Holder for handset
⑤ Bracket for wall type telephone(LC-212B1)
This telephone set has a drip-proof type housing case (accommodates circuit network, push-button dials,
neon lamp, signal relay circuit (LC-213F1/G1 for external alarm) headset connector, sub receiver) a
handset. To use the wall telephone with headset (LC-213G/G1) or sub-receiver (LC-213F/F1) in a noisy
place, plug-in the headset to the telephone.
This telephone system is designed for intrinsically safe construction and proper ignition grade (IIC T6) so
that it can be communicated in hazardous area where gas can be exploded.
The intrinsically safe construction does not ignite explosive gas or dust when the heat is caused by short
circuit, broken line and ground. Also, it is especially designed for ship to prevent water, humidity and
insects. This system, the telephone set and calling unit, has switch, terminal and replay. In calling, it uses
an air horn in hazardous area, and uses the buzzer and bell in safety area.
The telephone set adapts the low noise OP-AMP, so it improves call tone and side tone. Moreover, it
largely reduces noise incoming through a telephone transmitter; by using the circuit who’s CMRR
(Common Mode Rejection Ratio) is high.
The power is supplied to "JB Box". The current and voltage are limited for explosion-proof architecture.
As shown in figure below, the Intrinsic Safety system is largely divided into two groups; One is telephone
set(Portable) and another is calling unit(Relay and terminal).

1. Operation Guide
1.1 Extension to Extension Call
Extension call is like normal telephone.
1) Make sure of a dial tone "Wooing" from telephone handset before dialing.
2) If a dial tone is heard, start the dialing to extension number.
The tone does not exist after first dialing.
3) If a ring back tone is heard, wait for response of the counter party.
If a busy tone is heard, it means that connection circuits of the counter party are busy.
In such a case, hook on the handset and wait for some time. And repeat that.
4) When the counter party makes a response, then ring back tone is disappeared. You can talk about
with the party.
5) When the conversation is completed and either party hook on the handset, speech channel will be
reset and another party hears a busy tone indicating conversation end.
4) Start the dialing to shore telephone number. When the counter party makes a response, then ring back
tone is disappeared. You can talk about with the party.
5) When the conversation is completed and either party hook on the handset, speech channel will be
reset and another party hears a busy tone indicating conversation end.
1.7 Camp-on
If you call the other party, the party is busy, then you can pre-engage call to the party.
1) If you received busy tone, start the dialing to number "#", then busy tone is cleared and the handset
holds down.
2) When he other party completed the communication, the system will be call ring to pre-engaged party.
3) When pre-engaged party holds the handset, then the system will be call ring to the other party.
4) When the other party holds the handset, they can talk about each other.
5) The pre-engagement is ineffective after 30 second.
1.14 Precautions
You must put the handset in place after using telephone or Sat-com. Otherwise; others cannot use them
because their lines are not recovered.
