Feeding program is part of every school, this program aims to reduce

malnutrition among learners. To intensify health and nutrition among our grade 7
students, Maximo T. Hernandez Memorial Integrated High School as spearheaded with
School Feeding coordinator Mrs. Florencia D. Artista and our School Head Dr. Maxima
M. Javier, the school implemented supplementary feeding program for wasted and
severely wasted learners from the school.

Our School Feeding Coordinator together with the MAPEH department identify
those who were severely wasted and wasted learners from Grade 7 students. There
were 10 recipients of the program. The school provides daily mirienda or heavy lunch
with vegetables as main ingredients mixed with chicken or ground pork. The learners
are to be fed within 120 days from February 2023 to May 2023. The meals were
prepared by our Feeding Coordinator and parents of the learners.
The parents of the recipients of the program were all called for an orientation
which was conducted by the school head and Feeding Coordinator. They were informed
of their child’s nutritional status, program objectives and purposes which they would
take part.

After the orientation, the parents were grouped into five for their daily schedule.
The involved teachers and the school head made a daily schedule of the parents who
will be cooking for the recipients.

Gulayan sa Paaralan also served as partner of the SBFP. It served as the

supplier of vegetables such as malunggay, kamatis, sitaw, and other green leafy plants
which are very essential for the nutritious meals served.

During feeding, health care practices such as hand washing, and tooth brushing
were also promoted.
