I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:
A. determine the different types cohesive devices;
B. complete the given sentences using the appropriate cohesive devices;
and
C. give the importance of organizing ideas systematically in writing and
speaking

A. Preliminiary Activities

B. Energizer/ Motivation
Direction: The teacher will present a passage.
The students are task to fill the blank spaces with the suitable cohesive
device from the list given at the end of the passage.
C. Lesson Proper
1. The teacher will present sample sentences for the different types of cohesive devices.
2. The students are task to correct the sentences provided and identify what type of
cohesive device is used.
3. After the students have shared their ideas, the teacher will provide additonaal
informations about the discussion.
4. Let the students ask questions or clarifications if there are any.
D. Generalization
1. What is your take for today’s lesson?
2. Give the importance of using cohesive devices in writing sentences and paragraphs
effectively.
IV. APPLICATION
The teacher will present sentences.
The students’ task is to match the first sentence to the second set of sentence using
the correct cohesive devices.
V. EVALUATION
Read and Identify
Direction: The teacher will present sentences. The students are task to read each
sentences and choose the correct linking word or cohesive devices in the
parenthesis.
VI. AGREEMENT
Research and study about parallelism and the 8 parts of speech.
