Design of Purlins - NSCP 2015

This document provides information for capacity checking of purlins for a proposed two-storey residential building. It includes design parameters such as material properties, loads, geometry of the purlin section, and computed design loads from wind pressure calculations. A trial purlin section is analyzed to check for bending and shear stresses at midspan and third points under different load combinations, with all cases found to be safe. The required diameter of sag rods is also calculated. Deflection checks show the purlins meet the allowable deflection limits.
