style and rhythm.

I'm sure that some of you are


familiar with some elements of
poetry, but today we'll go deeper
than the surface and try to
understand the complexities of
each important element of
poetry.
D. Activity Let’s proceed to our next activity
called “Share it” With the same
group, choose a representative
to read the poem “Why I love
you”

“Elements of Poetry”. For you
class, what comes to your mind
when you hear the word
“Element”? • A part or aspect of

abstract,
especially one that
is essential or
characteristic.
There are seven Elements of
Poetry.

will be presented on the screen)
The first element is the Rhythm.
What is a Rhythm?
• Rhythm is the
beat, sound, and
feet of a poem.
Thank you. Rhythm is the beat,
sound, and feet of a poem. As
you read the poem a while ago,
the stressed and unstressed
syllables words are the rhythm.
Let’s see the rhythm in the
poem.

And help me to cope

The sign ˘ is the unstressed
syllable word while the sign ¯ is
the stressed syllable word. The
unstressed syllable word is the
soft or weak voice while the
stressed syllable word is strong
and long voice. In the first line,
the unstressed words are: you,
to, me, and the stressed words
are: give, hope. In the second
line, the unstressed words are:
and, me, to, and the stressed
words are: help, cope. In the
third line, the unstressed words
are: when, pulls, me, and the
stressed words are: life, down.
And in the last line, the
unstressed words are: you, me,
and the stressed words are
