Introduction

Welcome to my portfolio.
I am Lorrainne B. Puig, a student of Holy Child Central Colleges, Inc. under the program
Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education, major in Food Service Management (FSM).

Being a teacher is a noble profession. The teacher touches not just the mind but also the
heart of every student. The teacher is the foundation of their knowledge and they also contribute
a huge impact with their attitude, values, and personality. It takes a long-time process to be one.
It requires time, effort, passion, dedication, and commitment to be an effective and efficient
teacher. The first major step to gain the required and expected competencies and knowledge
before stepping up as a real professional is student teaching.

Student teaching is one of the stepping stones in preparing yourself as you enter your own
classroom. It is your time to explore things and learn more. It is the perfect time for you to
acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and values that you need as you work in the field. It is
your opportunity to prepare yourselves before touching the lives of your students. Being a future
teacher, you must always bear in mind that teaching is a continuous process of learning. Always
open your heart and mind for new knowledge and leanings. Remember that you will mold all
students' minds and the heart soon. You cannot give what you do not have. Being a student
teacher is your training ground before handling your real classroom. It is your opportunity to
observe a prospective situation that you might encounter in the field, therefore, it is your time to
gain knowledge and experiences that you can apply as you take the path of teaching. It will be
your time to gain and practice a variety of teaching strategies and methodologies that you can do
in a real classroom setting.

Student teaching helps future educators to gain knowledge, theories, methods, attitude,
skills, and values through experiential learning and observation. Wherein, all this learning can be
their armor as they take their education profession.

Always remember that teaching requires long preparation, more training sessions, and
experiences to be well equipped in facing the real environment that is waiting for you soon.
Actual Teaching Activities
Ancillary Services and Other School Activities

Off campus training is not only limited to the classroom teaching but also involves a second
task that the student teachers supposed to undertake. Working with the cooperating teacher is a
vital importance to the intern’s success as future teachers. Smooth and cordial relationship should
always be observed and due respect must be given to every member of the school.

During my internship in Banga National High School, I was given the chance to do some
school works like computation of grades, checking of test papers, projects and recording grades.
My cooperating teacher also asked me to monitor other sections during their exam. I also given a
chance to become a lecturer and demonstrator during my practice teaching journey and a chance
to be a tabulator in their CPA program.
Insights Gained from all the Phase of Teaching Internship

Students teaching is very unforgettable moment for me as a student teacher, because of my

off-training it became meaningful and fruitful to me. It helped me to discovered my own strength
and weaknesses in certain phase of teaching. From these experiences, I learned how to handled
students with different personalities. I also learned that teachers should have a big heart to
understand his/her student’s attitude and be flexible to handle different situations.

In practice teaching, cooperation and respect is very important especially inside and outside
the classroom to learn how to socialize and interact with different persons with different attitudes. I
also discovered that one teacher cannot teach his/her lessons that she/he doesn't know. As a
teacher, we should also be a researcher and an explorer to become effective.
Problems Encountered in Teaching Internship

Difficulties occur whether we like it or not. During my teaching internship, I experienced

some minor problems such as noisy and not paying attention in class discussion.

It is really hard to adjust during the first and second week but later on, I was able to solve
and handle those small problems that I encountered and I was able to adjust myself with the
students and the environment.

Since I am handling special sections, I did not experienced lots of problems during my
teaching internship for they are all behave and smart.
Suggestions, Reactions and Recommendations

As regards to my experience in practice teaching, I would like to make some suggestions or

recommendations with the hope that the program of student teaching will be effective not only for
the teachers but also for the students.

1. The student teacher should be properly observed by his/her cooperating teacher for them to
know their strengths and weaknesses.
2. The cooperating teacher should consider his/her intern’s suggestions to develop their self-
reliance and self-confidence. Also, the cooperating teacher should give his/her full support to
his/her intern so that they will be guided to the tasks that they are performing.
3. Require the pre-service teachers to attend or participate school activities to improve their
personality.
4. Discipline must emphasized to the students.
5. Constructive criticism should be given to student teachers to improve their methods and
techniques in teaching.
6. Lastly, students teachers must be punctual at all times.

What is your guest? “It is driving tools and holding

tools ma’am”

That is a very good guess class.

Your answer is correct.

Now, we can proceed to our lesson for

today.

II. LESSON PROPER

A. Abstraction
Today we are going to discuss the driving
tools and holding tools used in welding.

The first driving tool is the hammer.

There are two types of hammer, and what “The Ball peen hammer and
are they? chipping hammer ma’am.”

Very good!
The ball peen hammer class is used for
straightening bending and deforming
metals. It has two
faces. One is flat in striking cold chisels and
punches. The other side the “peen” is
rounded for bending and shaping metals.

While the chipping hammer is used for

removing slag on weld and with two faces,
the tapered from one side and round
pointed on the other side.
Next is the wrench.

Who can read? “Wrench is used for loosening

and tightening light and heavy
nuts and bolts.”

Thank you.
The wrench is used for loosening and
tightening light and heavy nuts and bolts.
There are different kinds and sizes of
wrenches designed according to uses and
functions and these are the following:
 Adjustable wrench
- has a movable jaw which makes it
adjustable to various sizes
of nuts.
 Pipe wrench
- used for tightening hose and fitting
connection on oxy-acetylene unit.
 Oxy acetylene wrench
- a vital tool in helping to remove stuck
bolts/nuts/other fasteners when typical
hand tools just wont do.
 Open-ended wrench
- one that is made to fit one size of nut or
bolt. This is the most inexpensive type of
wrench that is quite efficient in ordinary
situations.
 Close-end wrench
- similar to a single ended wrench, but as it
entirely encloses a nut.
 Socket wrench
- a tool with a usually interchangeable
socket to fit over a nut or bolt.

Next driving tool is the Screwdriver that is

designed to turn screws. The blade is made
of steel,
attached to one end of a wooden or plastic
handle. The other end is flattened to fit
slots in the heads of screws on bolts.
There are three types of screwdrivers these
are the;
1. Phillipis
2. Flattened
3. Helical-Ratchet

Did you understand? “Yes ma’am”

Any questions? “No ma’am”

Now, let’s talk about the different types of

holding tools.

Clamps are made of different sizes and

appearance that is fitted to its purpose and
designed to hold work securely which
performing skills through grinding, bending,
fitting, and cutting of metals.

1. Tool maker clamp - used for holding

small parts both at the bench and at the
machine. This tool is also known as a
parallel clamp.

2. C-Clamp - is an all-purpose clamp that is

generally used for all kinds of work.

3. Drill vise - is a sturdy steel vise with

movable jaw that easily goes back or forth
by raising the handle.

4. Machinist vise - is a work holding tool for

machining activity.

5. Hand vise V block with clamp - is used to

hold metal stocks for small machining
operation.

6. Vise Grip - is a tool used to grip the stock

tight enough to hold the object.
7. Tong - is used to hold the metal to be
forged and must be held securely while
working.

8. Pliers - are used for holding, cutting and

twisting wires.

Types of Pliers:
Combination Pliers - used for gripping,
compressing, bending, twisting, extracting
and cutting various materials.

Side Cutting Pliers - Use to grip, splice or

cut wires, and strip insulation.

Long Nose Pliers - are used to grip wires.

What is the advantage of the long nose

pliers?
“Because of their long shape
they are useful for reaching into
small areas where cables or
other materials have become
stuck or unreachable with
Very good! fingers or other means.”

Slip Joint Pliers/Mechanical Pliers - used

for gripping and bending hardware.

History of the Cooperating School

Banga National High School was created through Republic Act 6991, known as the
Creation of Banga National High School. The creation of the school was realized through the
efforts of the constituents of Banga, Mayor Mary Lou M. Solomon and with the assistance of late
former congressman, Hilario Le De Pedro III. The institution was established in January, 1991.
On the year 1993, the school applied for a National Recognition and it was under Region
XI Davao City. The disbursement of funds was supervised at first by Sunas and Mrs. Lenie
Javellana trained the bookkeeper and the disbursing officer. Then, on 1994 the salary of teachers
was under the Division Office but were again supervised by Miss Linda Isidro, at KNCHS.
The institution goes on through trials and difficulties, until concrete facilities were granted
through the late Gov. Hilario De Pedro, the municipal officials and Congresswoman Daisy Avance
Fuentes. From then on more classrooms were sponsored by government agencies here and
abroad. Several administrators took part on the endeavor for the development of the school.
In school year 2013–2014, the school organized some intervention programs such as
information drive and counseling services, as part of the Guidance Office Program and feeding
program for the malnourished students. Other programs include Gulayan sa Paaralan, Youth
Entrepreneurship and Cooperativitism in Schools (YECS-BNHS), Solid Waste Management,
MTAP, Reading Program, The School Greening Program (NDEP) Convention on the Rights of the
Child and RACRAS. There is also the Boy Scouting which is very active.
Banga National High School aims to uphold quality education. The school continues to
develop the talents and skills of the students in academic and in sports. In modern times it hopes
