A student portfolio is a compilation of pieces of evidence of learning, learning

artifacts, academic work and other forms of educational pieces of evidence compiled
for the purpose of (1) evaluating coursework quality, learning progress and academic
achievement; (2) determining whether students have met learning standards or other other
academic requirements for courses, grade-level.

The plearning portfolio may be in physical form or electronic or digital form. Online
portfolios are often called digital portfolios or e-portfolios. Portfolios may also be presented
publicly or privately to various stakeholders: parents, teachers, and community members as part
of a demonstration of learning, exhibit, capstone project or a culminating activity.

There are many different types and uses of learning portfolio. It showcases students
work as part of the requirement of the course. Some portfolios are only intended to evaluate
learning progress and achievement in a specific course. Other portfolios are used to assess
learning in a specific subject area while the rest evaluate the acquisition of skills that students
can apply in all subject areas.

These are some learning artifacts which may be included in your physical or digital
portfolio. You may add more to the list.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My teaching philosophy is built upon student-centered learning.I understand that each

student is unique and has varying needs. Each has their own study habit and capabilities. One
technique may be effective for a specific student yet may not be helpful for another. Thus, I help
the students in my class better attain the learning objectives by getting to know my students and
connecting with themto help me analyze their specific needs.Ithen strive toincorporate various
techniques to develop dynamic, customized curriculathat cater and adapt to the diverse needs
of my students.
I understand that students learn at different paces. In teaching, I aim to simplify the
lessons and explanations. I also believe that it is crucial for students to have a firm grasp ofbasic
concepts. Therefore, I guide my students step by step and utilize ample practice problems and
learning assessmentsto ensure that they master the fundamentals before proceeding to more
advanced topics.
I believe that learning is maximized when both the teacher and the student put in effort.
Thus, I also seek to instill a love of learning in my students that can motivate them to exert the
necessary effort to learn. One way I try to cultivate this love of learning is by helping them enjoy
the learning process. I believe that when one enjoys what they’re learning, not only will this aid
their understanding, but it will also inspire them to seek to expand their knowledge further. It
will also help them better retain the concepts they’ve learned.
I prioritize teaching responsibility and discipline in my classes. Thus, I make sure to be
firm when it comes to following the rules and exhibiting proper behaviorinside the classroom.
Istrive to establish clear expectations, goals, and standards from the start and ensure that these
are adhered to throughout the semester. I also believe that it is important to provide timely and
constructive feedback to my students. I give appropriate compliments, which can help motivate
and encourage them to strive for excellence.
As an educator, I also believe that I must set an example to my students in life-long
learning and improvement and continuously seek to evaluate and develop my teaching, making
use of the various resources and new technologies available to help foster a more enriching
learning experience.
Furthermore, my teaching style has also been significantly influenced by my faith in my
Savior Jesus Christ, Whom I believe is the Master Teacher. I strive to follow His perfect
exampleby loving those I am called to teach, teaching by the guidance of the Spirit, and inviting
diligent learning. I believeseeking divine help in all my teaching effortsenable me tocontinuously
improvemy teaching in a way that best aids my students to effectively learn and achieve
excellence.
