Introduction
A typical thermocouple consists of two different metal wires joined at one end to
form a sensing junction. The other ends are connected to a measuring instrument.
The physics behind it
When one end is heated, it creates a tiny electrical voltage. This voltage changes
with temperature. The physics principle for this is known as a seebeck effect.
When there's a temperature difference between the two junctions, it causes
electrons in the metal wires to move differently. This difference in electron
movement creates a voltage, like a tiny electric push or force, between the two
ends of the wires.
This small generated voltage in the electrical circuit of the thermocouple can be
measured, and this corresponds to temperature.
