TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Greeting/ Prayers

Good morning class! How are you today? Student A: Good morning Ma’am,
Student B: We are good today Ma’am

(Student Amin leading the prayer)

Before we start, may we have a prayer? Okay, Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem
boys who is assigned to lead the prayer today. Alhamdulillahi Rabeel Alameen
Yes, Razak Arahmani Raheem……..

2. Attendance Checking/
Assignments/New Normal Protocols

Thank you for that prayer. Now, I must check

your attendance. Say present when your name (Students says present when their names are
is called. called)

Alright, the only absent do we have for today Erwan: Ma’am, Anne texted me yesterday that
is only Anne Hernandez. Any information she couldn’t do to attend our classes for today
about her? since she is feeling sick. Her family are now
trying to get in the hospital for a check-up.
Okay. Thank you Erwan.
Please be safe students because I want you to Student D: Yes Ma’am, thank you for your
stay healthy and away of any illnesses.
concern.

Now, again let us be reminded of our new

normal rules.

Well, anyways I would like to add this rule in

our new normal class and please do observe
wherever you are.

Is that okay with you to observe these rules?

Can you do them for and for yourself?
Students: Of course, Ma’am!
Okay very good!

Ready your assignments. Pass it on the center

aisle and pass it forward. (Students submitted their assignments.)

I hope that you understand your assignment.

Anyways, I think the only way for you to
answer the assignment is to read.
B. Review

To freshen up, who can tell us the discussion Sheeran: Ma’am, our lesson yesterday was all
yesterday? Yes, Sheeran about the plane mirrors specifically on the
reflections from the plane mirror.

That’s it! Very good, Sheeran.

And now, you understand the what is a plane
mirror. Right?

So, I hope that you could still remember those Student G: We don’t have any questions,
terms about the plane mirror. By the way, any Ma’am!
question, clarifications, additional information
with regards to our previous discussion? Student J: None so far, Ma’am.

Okay then! Let’s go!

C. Motivation

Then, let’s have a quick activity. Are you Student F: Yes, Ma’am we are ready!
ready? Student S: Yes, we are!

Let us watch this video and observe what is

happening. This video is entitled as “Why
‘AMBULANCE’ is written reverse?”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjlYKvQo-kI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjlYKvQo-kI

Alright! Based on the video you have watched,

explain in your own words, why the word
‘Ambulance’ is written in reverse in the
emergency vehicle? Is there something a secret
code hidden them? Ali: Ma’am, it is written in reverse so that the
Yes, Ali driver can see the words spelt correctly in his
side mirror so that the driver in the vehicle will
give way to the ambulance.

Yes, you have a point Ali.

Anyone in the class who would like to add

Ali’s idea? Yes, Afrah
Afrah: It is written in reverse because mirrors
form laterally inverted images. Like left side of
an object appears to be the right side in mirror.

Very good, Afrah!

D. Lesson Proper

Alright! So, anyone in the class who would like

to read our objectives for today? Yes, Aisa Aisa:
At the end of the lesson, the students are
expected to:
1. explain how images formed with plane
mirrors;
2. describe the importance of plane
mirrors our daily life’s;
3. list the devices where plane mirrors
used; and
4. construct a kaleidoscope.
Thank you for that Aisa.

Now, based on the activity that we had done

earlier, what do you think will be our topic for
today? Yes, Kai
Kai: Ma’am, I think it will be application or the
use of plane mirrors.
Very good, Kai!

Where are plane mirrors used? Yes, Samera Samera: Ma’am, we used plane mirrors as a
looking glass.

Well, very good Samera!

Plane mirrors are usually used as a looking
glass. Application of plane mirrors such as
elevator mirrors. Now, anyone in the class who
would to read what is the application of mirrors
in the elevators? Yes, Ali Ali: Elevators are one of the greatest products
of technology, because going up 25 flights of
stairs sounds tiring and time-consuming. If you
thought that the creators of elevators were only
concerned with the engineering part of it,
you're wrong. Installed mirrors are
strategically placed for a great reason.
Yes, very good Ali.

So, mirrors were installed in order to distract

people and give them something to look at
while they waited. The mirrors also gave the
usually small space of an elevator a sense of
depth, thereby reducing the feeling of
claustrophobia that one might feel in such an
enclosed space.

Now, the second application of plane mirror is

the Periscope.
Again, who would like to read what periscope
is? Yes, Usman Usman: A periscope is an instrument for
observation over, around or through an object,
obstacle or condition that prevents direct line-
of-sight observation from an observer's current
position.
Very well said, Usman!

proving-how-effective-periscope-can-be proving-how-effective-periscope-can-be

A simple periscope consists of an outer case

with mirrors at each end set parallel to each
other at a 45° angle. Periscopes allow a
submarine, when submerged at a relatively
shallow depth, to search visually for nearby
targets and threats on the surface of the water
and in the air.

Now, we have the Kaleidoscope. Any

volunteer who would like to read what
Kaleidoscope is? Yes, Aliya
Aliyah: A kaleidoscope is a toy that uses light
and mirrors to reflect objects and create
beautiful, fascinating repeating patterns. There
are many different types of kaleidoscopes that
create different patterns, but all use the same
basic laws of physics, manipulating light and
reflection.

Kaleidoscope can create a beautiful and

fascinating repeating pattern through what?
Show me your spirit finger for those who
would like to answer. Okay, I am seeing Haira.
Yes, Haira.

Haira: We can see beautiful and fascinating

repeating patterns in the kaleidoscope because
it uses light and mirrors to reflect the object.
Brilliant, Haira!

When looking through the hole, light filters

through the glass (or clear plastic) on the end
of the object chamber and illuminates the
objects, which then reflect off all the mirrors.
The reflections bounce off one another as the
light passes through the tube. The eye sees
these bouncing reflections, creating the patters.
As the kaleidoscope rotates, the objects shift in
the chamber, and the reflection changes,
creating new patterns. The concept is simple
but creates a wonderful result that delights and
entertains.

E. Generalization

To generalize our lesson for today, what are the

application of plane mirrors? Just show me
your spirit fingers. Yes, Aynie
Aynie: Ma’am, the applications of plane
mirrors are the mirrors in elevators, periscope,
and kaleidoscope.
Very good, Aynie.

Now, what do you think is the importance of

plane mirrors in our daily life? Now, show me
your salute foe those who would like to answer
the question.
Yes, Amarah.
Amarah: Ma’am, the importance of plane
mirrors in our daily life is used as a looking
glass, used in constructing periscope which is
used in submarines, and used in kaleidoscope
so that we can see a beautiful pattern.

Excellent, Amarah! Now, let us give ourselves

a ‘galing clap’ everybody! Students: 1 2 3 Ang galing

Alright class, is there any question? Further

clarification?
Student G: None so far Ma’am!
F. Application

Last meeting, I let you choose your partner for

our activity for today, right? And we agreed
that you will bring your empty long can,
cardboard, black chart or a black cartoolina,
color paper, scissor, glue, tape, and shiny
objects. Right? Did you bring it students?
Student D: Yes Ma’am, we bring our materials
for our activity for today and we are all excited
to start our activity.

Student I: Yes Ma’am, and we are all read to

start our activity for today
Okay, now I also bring an aluminum foil for
the additional materials. Class monitor please
distribute this foil to your classmates. Alright!
Are all ready and excited students?
Student R: Yes, we are Ma’am!

Student O: We are ready Ma’am!

Very good!

In today’s activity you are going to construct

your own Kaleidoscope together with your
partner. And here in the screen is the procedure
on how you will make a Kaleidoscope. You
have 25 minutes to finish your Kaleidoscope.

Student J: Ma’am, I’m almost done.

Student K: We are all done Ma’am.

Alright! Very good.

So, let’s give your partner an air hug. (Students showing their air hug to their
partners)
