How much work will be done by an external agent to turn an electric dipole of moment P
through i) 900, ii) 1800

In the network shown in Fig. C1 = C2 = C3 = C4 = 8 µF and C5 = 10 µF. Find the
equivalent capacitance between points A and B.

i) Figure shows five dc sources(cells). Their emfs are shown in the figure.
What is the Emf of the battery AB?

ii)Why potentiometer is preferred over a voltmeter in measuring the emf of the cell?

The figure shows a 2.0 V potentiometer used for the determination of internal
resistance of a 1.5 V cell. The balance point of the cell in open circuit is 76.3 cm. When a
resistor of 9.5Ω is used in the external circuit of the cell, the balance point shifts to 64.8

Question-9
Obtain an expression for the electric potential at a point in end on position i.e. on
an axial line of an electric dipole.

ε1 and ε2 are two batteries having emf of 34V and 10V respectively and internal
resistance of 1Ω and 2Ω respectively. They are connected as shown in Figure. Using
Kirchhoff's Laws of electrical networks, calculate the currents I1 and I2.

In the circuit shown in figure below, E1 and E2are batteries having emfs 4.0 V and
3.5 V respectively and internal resistance 1Ωand 2Ω respectively. Using
Kirchhoff’s laws, calculate currents: I1 , I2, and I3.

Using Huygen’s wave theory, prove Snell’s law of reflection of light.

(ii)what would be the width of this maximum, if the apparatus be immersed in water of
refractive index 4/3.

stopping potential(Vs) versus frequency (f)of the incident radiation.
(ii) State how will you use this graph to determine the value of
Planck’s constant.

frequency (f)

(i)An a.c. source of emf e = 200 sin ωt is connected to a resistor of 50 Ω Calculate:

(ii)State any two characteristics of resonance in an LCR series circuit.

(i)State the postulate of Bohr’s theory regarding
(a)Quantisation of angular momentum of an electron.
(b)Emission of energy by an atom.
(ii)Draw the first 2 transition for all lines of emission spectrum. Find in terms of R the
longest and shortest wavelength for Balmer series.

(i)In a nuclear reactor, what is the function of each and what material is used for each

Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follow.
Optical instruments are of great utility. They help us in studying very tiny objects as
well as very large heavenly bodies. Scientists have developed microscopes like
electron microscopes which aid in studying tiny molecules of matter. They have also
devised gianttelescopes like Hubble telescope and James Web Space telescope which
have enabled us toview distant galaxies hitherto unknown.

(i)Which optical instrument is used to study detailed structure of a virus?


(ii)Why should the objective of a telescope have large aperture?
