(46) can be used for the connection of an auxiliary pres-

A relevant advantage of bellavistas pneumatic design is
the low amount of necessary internal connection tubes.

is not the same measured by the O2 cell. This alarm
mostly occurs in combination with alarm No 151
(please check alarm history and see No 151 for details
too).
Possible reasons:
O2 sensor calibration required
O2 supply concentration is lower than 100% and
wrong O2 supply concentration configured
O2 sensor nearly depleted
O2 sensor defective
Internal flow measurement calibration required
Inspiration block defective
Remedies:
Calibrate O2 sensor (see p. 83)
In some hospitals, the concentration of the O2 sup-
ply is a little bit lower than 100%.
If this is the case, set the O2 supply concentra-
tion to Below 100% oxygen in order to widen the

Move to cooler environment
Reduce O2 concentration
Reduce inspiratory pressure
Increase inspiratory time
Replace sinter bronze filter (see p. 87)

No Message Reason, Remedy
Background information:
Since the blower is cooled with patient air, the following
reasons lead to warming up:
high inspiratory pressure (blower needs to runs
high)
small minute volume
high FiO2 (thus most of the minute volume is O2
and not air through the blower)
There is a bypass cooling-flow exiting bellavista through
a sinter bronze filter at the bottom of the device. This
bypass flow sufficiently cools the blower in any of the
above circumstances. Two reasons however may lead
to over temperature:
the airflow through the bottom of bellavista is
somehow blocked (unit is placed on some soft sur-
face)
the sinter bronze filter at the bottom is blocked by
dust or mildew (mostly a consequential effect of a
blocked inlet filter blower)
96

12. FAQ
Yes. An external O2 blender 302.428.000 is available (please contact imtmedicals technical support for data sheet).
Why can there be a big difference between VtInsp and VtExp measurement?
If you have a big difference between VtInsp and VtExp measurement, please first check the accuracy specifications in the
bellavista user manual:
Example: Let’s assume that the real tidal volume (not the measured one) is 500 mL. With adult settings this can lead to
the following valuable ranges of the measured values of bellavista:
VtExp: 500 mL ±15% = 425…575 mL
VtInsp: 500 mL ±15% = 425…575 mL
The worst case valuable difference between the measurement of VtInsp and VtExp in this example can be 150 mL
(575 mL – 425 mL).
Of course it is very unlikely that one measured value is at the very upper tolerance edge while the other one is at the very
lower tolerance edge at the same time.
Anyway, a big difference between the measured values of VtInsp and VtExp can have the following reasons:
The proximal flow sensor has not been calibrated during the last circuit system test.
General remedy: Perform a circuit system test.
Remedy for neonatal applications: If the installed software version is V4.2.200.0 or lower, please update to
V4.2.300.0 as the neonatal proximal flow sensor calibration in negative (backwards) direction has been introduced
with this software version in order to improve the VtExp measurement. For the neonatal proximal flow sensor calibra-
tion in negative direction, a corresponding neonatal proximal flow sensor calibration adapter is required. This adapter
comes with every new neonatal proximal flow sensor. However, some older or early shipped neonatal proximal flow
sensors may not include this calibration adapter. Therefore, we offer 10 packs of them (see bellavista Product Cata-
logue for details or contact imtmedical customer supprt).
Remedy for G2 bellavistas: Perform a circuit system test after the device has been warmed up for at least 20 min. If
you perform the circuit test within the first 15 min after the start up, the proximal flow sensor will not be calibrated dur-
ing the circuit test because the temperature drifting effects of the sensors are too big at this moment.
The proximal flow measurement is affected by gas turbulences.
122
FAQ
Remedy: If you are using a test lung, don’t connect the test lung directly to the proximal flow sensor because the gas
flow out of the test lung can cause turbulences in the proximal flow sensor which can affect the measurement of
VtExp. Use a tube between the proximal flow sensor and the test lung:
1. Connect a USB mouse to bellavista (a mouse pointer should appear on the screen and be controllable by the USB
mouse. If this is not the case, restart bellavista and try it again)
2. Use your USB mouse to control bellavista
3. Change to user level Service (password: “service!”)
4. Go to service screen 7 Display / User Input
5. Select Test native colours (a red screen will be displayed)
6. Touch the screen with your finger. If the colour of the screen isn’t changing to green, the touch screen is defective
and needs to be replaced (please contact imtmedicals technical support). If the colour of the screen is changing to
green, the touch screen is generally working but maybe severely decalibrated. If this is the case, please go on with
the next steps.
7. Touch the screen with your finger repeatedly until you see the service screen Display / User Input again
8. Use your USB mouse again to start the touch screen calibration (see p. 88)
