Course Objectives/Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
➢Understand the basic principle of static and fatigue design of different machine components
➢Design and analyze typical machine elements with particular focus on:
- Shaft; Couplings; Clutch and Brake
- Drives such as Friction drives; Belt drives; Chain drives and Gear drives
- Bearings and lubrication
Course Description/Course Contents
The course deals with different machine elements like shafts and rotors; couplings and clutches;
starting processes of a machine components consisting friction clutches; Drives: friction, flat and V-
belt drives; Rope and chain drives; Gear drives: spur, helical and bevel gear, worm gear drive,
geometry and dimensioning on strength.
