At the end of the discussion the students should be

a) Describe how heat is transferred in solid
materials through conduction.

Today, we're going to dive into the fascinating world


of heat transfer through conduction.

Anyone who had an idea what conduction is ? (Students will answer)

For our new lesson we are going to tackle about Heat


Transfer but for today we will only be focusing on
the first type of heat transfer which is the
Conduction.

The following will be your learning objectives kindly


please read.
At the end of the discussion the students should be
able to:
a) Describe how heat is transferred in solid ( The students will read)
materials through conduction.
b) Identify materials that are good conductors of
heat.
c) Appreciate the importance of heat transfer
(conduction) in our daily lives.

B. Establishing a purpose for the


lesson/Motivation/Motive Questions

I have a picture here kindly take a look.

What can you see in the picture? Egg, teacher.

Was the egg cooked? Not yet, teacher.

Have you ever wondered how the egg is cooked? Yes, teacher.

Due to heat transfer from direct contact between two


conductors, the egg was able to get cooked, and that
will be our lesson for today, conduction of heat.

C. Presenting Examples/instances of the new


lesson
Group 1:

Heat is transferred by conduction, convection, and


radiation.

• Conduction is the transfer of heat through


direct contact.
• Conduction happens when you iron clothes.
The heat from the flatiron is transferred to the
clothes you are pressing.
• Conduction also takes place when you boil
water in a pan and put the aluminum ladle into
the pan.
Heat from the water is transferred to the handle of the
ladle. When you touch the handle, it feels hot.

Heat can be transferred from one object to another.


The transfer of heat through direct contact is called (The student will read and listen to the teachers

There are materials that allow heat to flow through


easily. We call them conductors. Metals are good
conductors. That's why we use them as cooking
utensils because heat moves fast through the metal pan
to the food.

There are materials through which heat passes slowly


or not at all. We call these insulators. Some insulators
are wood, plastic and ceramic. Insulators are materials
which do not conduct heat very well. Substances like
asbestos, fiberglass, and thick clothing are good
insulators.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new

Now, let's get hands-on! In groups, you'll each have


some materials to test. We want to find out which
materials are the best at conducting heat. You'll make
predictions, conduct experiments, and observe what
happens. Remember to think about why certain
materials might transfer heat faster than others.

Group Activity 1:
(The students will do the activity carefully following
Materials: each steps)
Mugs
Plastic spoon
Metal spoon
Hot Water

What to do:
1. Fill the two mug with hot water. Be extra
careful when pouring hot water to the mug.
Avoid spilling the Hot water.
2. Place a metal spoon into the other mug and a
Plastic spoon on the other one.
3. Wait for about 3 minutes. Carefully feel the
exposed end of the spoons. Slightly touch the
outside surface of the mug too.
4. Observe properly answer on the following
questions.
