a. If x – 1/x = √2, find the values of: i) x2 + 1/x2 ii) x + 1/x


b. If 5 cos A -12 sin A =0, then find the values of all the trigonometric ratios.

c. In triangle PQR, angle PQR is 90 , angle PRQ=30, S is a point on RQ such that angle PSQ=45 and
RS= 10cm. Find the length of PQ and RQ.

Question 5 [3+3+4]

a. Factorise completely: (x2 + y2 -z2)2 – 4x2y2

b. The sum of the digits of a two digit number is 5. If the digits are reversed , the number is reduced

by 27. Find the number.

c. Without using trigonometric tables, evaluate:


sin 15° cos 75° + cos 15°𝑠𝑖𝑛75°
sec2 100 -cot2 800 + cos 𝐴 .sin(90°−𝐴)+𝑠𝑖𝑛𝐴 .cos (90°−𝐴)

Question 6 [3+3+4]

a. At what time ₹10000 amounts to ₹14641 at the rate of 20% p.a. compounded half yearly?

b. Prove that : ( 1+ cot2A) (1 +cosA) ( 1-cosA) =1

c. In quadrilateral PQRS, PQ = 8m, PS = 10m, SR = 17m.

Find QS and QR.

Question 7 [3+3+4]

a. The perpendicular PS on the base QR of a ΔPQR intersects QR at S, such that QS = 3 SR. Prove
that 2PQ2 = 2PR2 +QR2

b. At what rate percent per annum will a sum of ₹4000 yield compound interest of ₹ 410 in 2 years?

c. If ₹6400 is invested at 6 ¼ % pa, compound interest then find:


i. the amount after 2 years
ii. the interest earned in 2 years
