Sustainability and Resource Usage Record

Areas of RTO & practices reviewed Provide a brief description of the issue in
this section.
Computers, servers, manufacturing and

 Windows are left exposed to maximize
natural lighting, therefore reducing the
need for artificial lighting.
 ‘Smart’ lights that are time and motion
sensitive, therefore turning off after-hours
or when rooms are not in use.
 Weekly email reminders to turn off
computers at the end of each day.
 Use of laptops rather than desktops where
possible, as they use around half the
power.
 Manufacturing and packaging machinery
is regularly serviced and maintained.
Most office energy is used by computers,

 Wasted water from the manufacturing

 Annual staff training addressing best
sustainability practices.
 Automatic doors that close to prevent
extreme temperature changes, thereby
reducing heating and cooling energy
usage.

Waste Waste is defined as anything that is discarded

 Are staff conscious of waste management waste hierarchy classification system, from

 Eliminate the use of materials.
 Reduce the amount of materials.
 Recover the materials.
 Reuse the materials.
 Recycle the materials.
 Dispose through landfill.

In line with the above hierarchy, I

recommend the following policies:
 Wasted water from the manufacturing
process should be captured and reused.
 Manufacturing should be undertaken to
exact tolerances to minimize wasted raw
ingredients and materials.
 Laptops/iPad should be used in place of
printed paper for meetings.
 Waste should be classified and put in
relevant bins (recycling, landfill etc.).
 Recycled paper should be used in product
packaging.
