Selection of your own business/organisation
Identifying the right business or organization for you is an integral part of your journey in
this unit. Your organizational choice will be the foundational piece in Assessment 2, where
you'll apply the knowledge and skills you have acquired in managing business resources.
Here are some steps to guide you through the process:
Understand Your Organizational Needs: Reflect on the nature of the business or
organization you're interested in and consider how it aligns with your learning objectives
for this unit. Your choice could be influenced by the size of the business, the industry it
operates in, the resources it manages, or even its overall business strategy.
Consult with Your Trainer/Tutor: Have an open discussion with your trainer or tutor
regarding your selection. They can provide valuable input and advice to ensure your
choice is suitable for the requirements of this unit.
Gather Essential Documents: Your trainer will provide a list of documents that you will
need to obtain from your chosen organization. These documents could include company
policies, resource management strategies, business plans, and budgets. Make sure to seek
permission to use these documents in your assessment if necessary.
Obtain Feedback and Information: Collect all relevant information and feedback from
your organization that will assist in conducting the assessment and preparing the
workplace project report. This information could come from internal reports, stakeholder
interviews, or observational research.

Please Note: An essential part of your assessment is to develop, implement, and review at
least three resource plans within your chosen organization. These plans will be the
primary evidence of your capacity to manage resources according to planned business
strategies.
Remember, the organization you choose will serve as your practical case study for
managing resources according to planned business strategies. The aim is to analyze
resource requirements, develop resource plans, allocate resources, and review and report
on resource usage effectively. This will provide you with a comprehensive, hands-on
experience in managing business resources, which is critical to your success in this unit.

Lastly, always make sure you have the necessary permissions and consents before using
any proprietary information from your selected organization. Good luck with your
assessment!

Case study – Bounce Fitness Bowling Alley
Margaret House is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Bounce
Fitness, a highly successful chain of fitness centres located across
Australia. With over 20 years of experience in the fitness industry,
Margaret is well-equipped to manage the expansion of the Cairns
Centre. The planned expansion will include the addition of a bowling
alley, which will provide a new source of revenue and attract more
customers to the centre. Margaret is confident that the expansion
will be a success, and she is excited to see the Cairns Centre reach its
full potential. The Cairns Centre will be the first location to trial a new
bowling alley concept from Bounce Fitness. The hope is that, if successful, the model will
be replicated at all Bounce Fitness centres around Australia within two years. The new
bowling alleys will be designed to provide quality family entertainment for those in the
surrounding area. Each location will have its own unique features, making it a special
destination for people of all ages. The Cairns Centre trial will be an important step in
determining the feasibility of this new concept and how it could potentially benefit
Bounce Fitness members and the wider community.
The concept has been well received and marketing is now critical to its success and future
profitability. The basic market need is a comprehensive entertainment centre that
addresses an entire family’s interests.

Summary of Discussion

As the number of program participants rises, we must divide the sessions into smaller
groups, which requires additional human resources. We still need a personal trainer, a
certified group exercise teacher, and a yoga specialist. We have a $5000 budget set out
for this, therefore we'd want to acquire clearance before we start advertising.Online
websites and social media channels would be used for recruiting methods.Because we
have clients that want to attend the sessions throughout the week, we would want to
recruit someone for full-time work throughout all five days.
