Data Enumerator

Purpose:
Under funding from Gavi, the vaccine alliance, Jhpiego is implementing the feasibility
implementation research project of “Engaging men as caregivers and supporting successful
parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and equitable health services” (“Men’s
engagement in immunization”) project in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of
Immunization and Provincial EPI Programs Sindh and Balochistan.
The project goal is to contribute towards Gavi gender strategy for “increasing understanding of
programmatic interventions that overcome gender-related barriers, specifically engaging male
caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and
more equitable health services.”
The project will be implemented within two districts of the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
Jhpiego seeks to hire total eight (4 male & 4 Female) Data enumerators/Data Collectors Four (2
Male & 2 Female) in Karachi East and Four (2 Male & 2 Female) in Quetta district. The
Enumerator will be responsible for collecting data in the field at the union council level of both
the districts. This role requires individuals to visit households, community
influencers/stakeholders to conduct interviews and FGDs for base line and end line survey and
ensure accurate and reliable data collection for the period of 02 months during the baseline
and 02 months at the end line with a gap of four months apart based on field intervention
followed by recollecting data after end line. Sample data collection timelines are mentioned in
table below.

Specific Objectives:

• To attend training on data collection and research tools.


• To conduct the mapping exercise with support of LHWs, EPI Vaccinator and Jhpiego
project team.
• To collect quantitative and qualitative data (baseline and end line) in the two union
councils (one intervention UC and one control UC) of districts.
• To collect the qualitative data through focus group discussions.

Description of objectives:

• Meetings with community key person’s/stake holders to explain survey objective.


• Conduct face-to-face interviews with selected respondents (couples/community
stockholders) using structured questionnaires through electronic data collection tools
and software.
• Provide quality data to the data management officer.
• Follow the survey methodology and protocols provided by the organization.
• Review collected data for accuracy and completeness at the end of each day.
• Manage issues related to the task in field during data collection and report to line
supervisor.
• Respect the cultural norms and values of the respondents and communities visited.
• Follow confidentiality and security procedures and ensure transparency of data.
• Ensure validity and reliability of collected data.

• Support the activity as per SOPs of organization.

Deliverables:

• Collected and capture household data on hard and digital form.


• Collect both qualitative and quantitative data through FGDs (8 FGDs at Union Council
level)
• Provided quality data to Data Management Officer.
• Completed and verified responses forms for each respondent.
• Quality-checked data sets submitted to the Data Management Officer.
• Daily reporting of collected data for accuracy and completeness

Selection Criteria:

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.


• 2-3 years of experience in community-based data collection, both qualitative and
quantitative, including surveys or research and experience of collecting research data on
digital devices and in hard form.
• Familiarity with data collection tools and techniques.
• Local candidates from the community are preferred and fluent in the local language.
(Urdu, Pashto, Balochi)

Duration: The duration of consultancy is 4 Months (125 Days).


Payment Schedule: Payment will be processed based on satisfactory deliverables.
Reporting Line: This position will report to Provincial Project Officer and Data
Management Officer.
