INSTALLATION OF MAINSWITCHBOARD
This method statement provides information concerning the equipment, material and
method of construction to ensure compliance with contract requirements, drawings,
technical specification and quality control
2.0 REFERENCES
The tools and testing equipment shall be provided as and when required and when
necessary: -
a. Safety gears
b. Transportation i.e. fork lift, pick-up truck or lorry, etc.
c. Work force hydraulic jacks
d. Basic hand tools.

5.0 IMPLEMENTATION / METHODOLOGY PROCEDURES

b. The Electrical Contractor shall liased with Main Contractor to ensure that all
installation work is according to the construction drawings and technical
specification.
c. Any deviation at site from the construction drawings shall seek the
confirmation and clarification from consultant representative for approval of
new proposal.
d. Secure all the shop drawing layout and determine the actual position to
commence installation with the mobilization of required work force, tools and
equipment.
e. Before the delivery of Main Switchboard, ensure that the following inspection
is to be carried out.
i. The Main Switch Room shall be free of dust, clean, dry and well
ventilated.

a. The Main Switchboard shall be packed and delivery to site with plastic sheet
cover to prevent damage and to keep dust away.
c. The lorry or pick-up truck shall be used to transport the Main Switchboard to
the point of installation where positioning will commence.
ii. Ensure that the lifting stirrups are evenly attached to the Main
Switchboard and strong enough for the lifting operation.
iii. Then, placed the hoisting steel ropes to the lifting stirrups and then
mobile crane.
iv. Hoisted up the Main Switchboard and then lowered down and placed
on top of rollers. After that the Main Switchboard shall be pushed into
actual location at Main Switch Room by manpower.
INSTALLATION OF MAINSWITCHBOARD
a. Remove all the plastic sheet cover after the Main Switchboard is installed into
the Main Switch Room.
b. Visually check all the instruments and components to make sure that it is in
good condition.
3. All cable termination to the Main Switchboard shall be using the compression
cable gland mounted on the brass or copper plate.
4. Care must be taken to ensure that all the cable termination are securely
tightened to avoid any spark or danger
5. All earth cabling shall be terminated to the thinner copper plate provided in
the Main Switchboard.
6. Make sure that the door enclosure is always closed after finishing work inside
the Main Switchboard to avoid any insects, rodent, snake or etc. entering the
Main Switchboard that can cause potential danger.
7. Secure the Main Switch Room by padlocking all the access door.
All site tests shall be carried out accordingly to requirement of British standards and
as per contract specification.
This included relevant Type Tests as recommended in the IEC standards, Routine
Tests in accordance with IEC standards, Insulation Test and all the testing
requirements as per tender specification.

All operation during this work will be done in an efficient and safe manner and in
accordance to the Safety Procedures. However there are issues concerning safety
for this work that are to be observed base on the results of the audit, relevant safety
measures shall be proposed and implemented as follows: -
a. Carry out a hazard Identification Audit (HIA) before start of work each day and
before the start of a new task.
b. The material shall be in good condition, clean and free from defect and crack during
the installation.
c. All materials shall be transported by lorry to the site. Upon arrival, the materials shall
be unloaded at identified storage yard, either manually or by machinery.
d. All material shall be checked and inspected by the supervisor and consultant. It must
be stacked on timber and cover with non-staining plastic sheet.
