ANTONI GAUDI
Father of Catalan Modernism. Gaudi has been referred to
by various names and has made his impact on Spain (as the
sole founder of Catalan Modernism) and the world in
numerous ways. He has been referred to as a genius, a
lunatic, and—possibly his favorite—as "God's Architect."
Barcelona is filled with his work, which incorporates natural
motifs and new materials that were available thanks to the
Industrial Revolution. His most well-known piece of
architecture, the Sagrada Familia, has been under
construction for over 135 years.

LE CORBUSIER
Full name, Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris. The impact of Le
Corbusier on the field of architecture cannot be overstated. In
the International Style that developed following World War I,
one of the fathers of modernism named Le Corbusier pushed
for the elimination of load-bearing walls to allow for more
flexible living arrangements and to provide people greater
living space. There is no doubting that he had a significant
influence on upcoming generations of architects, despite the
fact that he is also divisive due to his political and personal
ideals.

LOUIS KAHN
Known as a master of geometry, Louis Kahn is a very
significant architect and one of the 20th century's most
significant designers. His most iconic project, the Salk
Institute, displays all the characteristics that make Kahn's
work so influential. The use of simple forms, symmetry and
precise geometry are all hallmarks of Kahn's work. Due to
its size, geometry, and presence, his work is frequently
referred to as gigantic. He was also a master of material
and light, which is evident in his frequently straightforward
forms and geometric movements.
OSCAR NIEMEYER
A prominent member of Brazil's modernist movement was the
architect Oscar Niemeyer. He is best recognised for his work
on building Brasilia, which at the time served as the nation's
new capital. He disapproved of the angularity of modern
architecture, thinking that curved lines were more
aesthetically beautiful. At the same time, his use of stark white
concrete accented by bright hues was utterly contemporary.
Niemeyer received the Pritzker Prize in 1988, and his
numerous civic structures in Brazil bear witness to his legacy.

EERO SAARINEN
Eero Saarinen, a Finnish-American architect, is renowned
for his work on significant monuments as well as his
contributions to industrial design. Saarinen, an architect's
son, is renowned for his sweeping, opulent forms that
communicate clearly. His work has a greater impact as a
result. The TWA Flight Centre, which is now a hotel, was
one of his most well-known creations. Saarinen also
designed one of America's most recognisable structures,
the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

FRANK GEHRY
For the majority of his career, visionary architect Frank
Gehry has been a household name. Gehry is renowned for
his distinctive postmodernist design, which can be seen
everywhere from the Dancing House in Prague to the Walt
Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. He has been able to give
his deconstructivist buildings a distinctive appearance by
using unusual materials like bent metal sheets into his
design. Gehry received the Pritzker Prize in 1989.

RENZO PIANO
Renzo Piano, an Italian architect, became well-known for
creating the cutting-edge Centre Pompidou in Paris. As he
employs technology to address architectural issues, he
continued to be interested in incorporating it into his
designs. The Whitney Museum, the Kansai International
Airport Terminal, and London's The Shard are a few of his
most illustrious works.

REM KOOLHAAS
Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas is regarded as one of the
greatest architectural thinkers of his time and is well-
known for both his building endeavours and architectural
theory. As a founding member of the company OMA,
Koolhaas has created significant works such as the Qatar
National Library and the CCTV Headquarters in Beijing. His
deconstructivist work frequently defies gravity, and he is
able to realise his architectural theories through a wide
range of designs for retail establishments, corporate
headquarters, hotels, and public structures.
ZAHA HADID
Affectionately called “the Queen of the Curve,” Zaha Hadid
made an indelible mark on 21st-century architecture. She
helped usher in a new era of architecture with her futuristic
designs and was the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize.
But while her designs are cutting-edge, they often have a
base in nature. For instance, her iconic Guangzhou Opera
House was inspired by pebbles that have been rubbed
smooth by the waters of a stream. Though she,
unfortunately, passed at a young age, her legacy is carried
on by her firm, Zaha Hadid Architects.

BJARKE INGELS
Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, one of the most intriguing
figures in modern architecture, and his company BIG are
producing dramatic, powerful work. Ingels, who is
renowned for his audacious and whimsical designs, was
Rem Koolhaas' student. Through BIG, Ingels not only
creates individual structures but also complete
metropolitan complexes. As one of the company's basic
values, sustainability is woven into the design of BIG's
buildings rather than being treated as an afterthought.
