Small Buzzy Cube Bee

This adorable bee would be a great gift for a Minecraft lover, a wildlife enthusiast or both!
This is super easy and quick to make and creates a cute little friend, or even a keyring!

Materials:
 DK yarn (other yarn is also fine, however this will affect the size)
 3mm crochet hook (or size appropriate to yarn used)
 Stuffing (I use polyester filling)
 Tapestry needle
 Stitch marker
 Felt (optional)
 Felting needle (optional)

Stitches and Abbreviations:


 MR = Magic ring
 Sc = Single crochet
 Ch = Chain
 Slst = Slip stitch
 FLO = Front loop only
 BLO = Back loop only
 Inc = Increase (2 sc in the next sc)
 3inc = 3 sc increase (3 sc in the next sc)
 Dec = Invisible decrease (pick up next 2 stitches in FLs only, yarn over and pull through all)
 3dec = 3 sc decrease (pick up next 3 stitches in FLs only, yarn over and pull through all)
 Rnd = Round
 FO = Finish off

Notes:
 Beginner to Intermediate level pattern, depending on what you choose for the eyes
 Written in US terminology
 For the body, slst and ch are not counted as stitches
 Worked in the round unless stated otherwise
 Stitch count will be indicated in brackets in bold ( ) at the end of each step
 Repeat instructions in (not bold) brackets ( ) the amount of times indicated

Start in Yellow

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc 4 in MR slst to ch 1 at beginning (4)

Rnd 2: Ch, inc 4, slst (8)

Rnd 3: Ch, (sc, 3inc) x4, slst (16)

Rnd 4: Ch, (sc 3, 3inc) x4, slst (24)

Rnd 5: Ch, (sc 5, 3inc) x4, slst (32)

Rnd 6: Ch, sc 32 BLO, slst (32)

Rnd 7-10 (4 rnds): Ch, sc 32, slst (32)

Rnd 11: Brown ch, sc 32, slst (32)

Rnd 12: Yellow ch, sc 32, slst (32)

Rnd 13: Brown ch, sc 32, slst (32)

Rnd 14: Yellow ch, sc 32, slst (32)

Rnd 15: Brown ch, sc 32, slst (32)

Rnd 16: Ch, sc 32 BLO, slst (32)

Rnd 17: Ch, (sc 5, 3dec) x4, slst (24)

Rnd 18: Ch, (sc 3, 3dec) x4, slst (16)

Start stuffing the body and insert safety eyes on rnd 4, 3 stitches apart if you’re this method.

Rnd 19: Ch, (sc, 3dec) x4, slst (8)

Rnd 20: Ch, dec 4, slst (4)

FO, and sew closed rnd 20 by threading the yarn tail through the front loops of the 4 remaining
stitches and pulling tight and fastening off.

In white, make 2

Rnd 3: (Sc, inc) x4 (12)

Rnd 4: (Sc 2, inc) x4 (16)

Rnd 5: Sc 16 (16)

Rnd 6: Sc 16 (16)

Rnd 7: (Sc, dec) x5, sc (11)

Rnd 8: Sc 11 (11)

Rnd 9: (Sc, dec) x4, sc (8)

Rnd 10: Dec 4 (4)

FO and leave long tail for sewing onto body.

Legs:
In black, make 6, not in the round

Row 1: Ch 4

Row 2: Slst 3

FO and leave a tail for sewing on the body.

Antenna:
In black, make 2, not in the round

Row 1: Ch 3

Row 2: Slst 2, ch 5

Row 3: Sl st 5 (joining back to first chain)

FO and leave a tail for sewing on the body.

Sting:
In black, not in the round

Row 1: Ch 3

Row 2: Sc, inc (3)

FO and leave a tail for sewing on the body.

Assembly:
Sew wings between rnd 10 and 11 (the brown stripe), 3 stitches apart.

Sew the legs 4 stitches apart on rnds 9, 12 and 15.

Sew the sting onto the final round at the back. I curved it a little when sewing on to make it look
more pointy.

Sew antenna onto the top corners of rnds 3 and 4.

I needle felted the eyes in black and blue to resemble the eyes of the Minecraft Bee, though you
may choose to use safety eyes, embroider, crochet etc. the eyes if you prefer.
