The aim of this course is to provide technical drawing and graphics skills needed in understanding the
essential problem of descriptive geometry, covering electrical, mechanical and civil drawing in engineering
field
Unit 1: Drawing Instruments and Application

Show different types of drawing instruments, discuss the application of each and units of measurements of
drawings
1. Learners must be able to apply the knowledge of competent use standard equipment for
engineering drawing.
Unit 2: Drawing standard
Drawing standards SP46, concept of dimensioning, notion of lettering, types of lines, Scaling convention
1. Learners must be able to explain the drawing standards and illustrate electrical symbols and
conventions used on drawings.
Unit 3: Visualization principles
Visualization principles, Free hand sketching of multiple views from pictorial views of objects. in layout
views / and 3 dimensional views
1. Learners must be able to illustrate free hand sketching using the visualization principles in layout
views and 3 dimensional views.
Unit 4: Orthographic /Isometric/ Oblique Projection
Drawing orthographic views of objects from their isometric / Oblique views, Types of Projection, Isometric /
Oblique Projection and view of planes and simple solids.
1. Learners must be able to Convert Isometric / Oblique drawings into orthographic projection and
Orthographic into isometric / oblique projection.
Unit 5: Sectioning of engineering components
Types of solids, Section planes perpendicular to one plane and parallel or inclined to other plane
1. Learners must be able to Illustrate sectioning lines and planes and produce sectioning of soli
engineering components
Unit 6: Parts list and assembly drawings
Layout views of different parts assembled to produce a working engineering component
1. Learners must be able to apply the concept of assembly drawing for various engineering parts
drawings.
Unit 7: Electrical/ Electronic schematic drawings, wiring and connections
