LESSON 1 NUMBERS TO 10000
PLACE VALUE
Place value in math refers to the value of a digit based on its position
within a number. Each position in a number represents a different
power of 10. For example, in the number 345, the digit 5 is in the "ones"
place, giving it a value of 5; the digit 4 is in the "tens" place, giving it a
value of 40 (4 × 10); and the digit 3 is in the "hundreds" place.
