1. What is cysticercosis? How is it treated??
- Cysticercosis is a parasitic tissue infection caused by larval cysts of the tapeworm taenia solium. People infected with this disease are usually treated with anti-parasitic drugs in combination with anti-inflammatory drugs, sometimes other variants such as neurocysticercosis needs to be altered in treatment a little bit but is also generally treated and can be permanently cured with anti-parasitic drugs.
2. What is hydatid cyst disease? What complications can occur?
- Is a disease caused by the intermediate stage of the dog tapeworm Echinococcus granuloses. Some complications that can occur with this disease are infection, rupture to the biliary tree; rupture to the peritoneal cavity; rupture to the pleural cavity. Parasite Common Name Infective form Intermediate Host Taenia Solium Pork tapeworm larval form Pigs (cysticercus) Taenia Saginata Beef tapeworm Infectious larval Cattle cysts Diphyllobothrium Broad fish plerocercoid larvae Planktonic latum tapeworm crustacean and one or more freshwater fish.
