Digital IC Logic Gates: OR GATE
Objective:
Determine the function of an OR gate and pin configuration of a 74LS32 quad 2-input
OR gate.
Theory:
The OR gate is a logic gate that produces a high logic output when at least one of its
inputs is at logic high level. Note that an OR gate may have two or more inputs. A two-
input OR gate’s schematic symbol and truth table are shown below:

This experiment uses the 74LS32 quad 2-input OR gate. The label ‘quad’ signifies that
there are four separate gates in the IC. As with other logic ICs, the power supply is
connected to pin 14 and the ground in pin 7.

2. Connect Input terminal at the ground for logic level 0 and to power supply for
logic level 1. Switch ON the power supply. Do the connection with the respective
input terminal as stated in table below. Record output as indicated by the LED
light display.
4. Turn OFF the power supply. Interconnect the OR gates as shown below.

5. Connect Input terminal at the ground for logic level 0 and to power supply for
logic level 1. Switch ON the power supply. Do the connection with the respective
input terminal as stated in table below. Measure the output and record the result
in terms of logic level.
Legend:
Input : Logic 0 = 0V(ground) ; Logic 1 = 5V (power supply)
Output: Logic 0 = LED Off ; Logic 1 = LED On
