Presentation Topic: Grading System

Numerical Letter Grade Criteria
Grade Grade Point

80% and above A+ 4.00 Shows a passion for the topic. Student has built on a solid base of deep knowledge and
delivered original thought or provided original
application of a presented model. Has displayed sound and defensible
judgment.
75% to < 80% A 3.75 Student has integrated/synthesized a complex body of knowledge. Is able to bring ideas
together succinctly. Has displayed sound grounded
opinion.
70% to < 75% A- 3.50 Critical evaluation or deeper understanding displayed identifies key issues; adds value to
data or basic research.
65% to < 70% B+ 3.25 Intelligent organization and expansion of concepts, ideas; illustrates through application;
sought other reading if appropriate.
60% to < 65% B 3.00 Covers key issues, in a superior way.
55% to < 60% B- 2.75 Descriptive, can summarize, organize ideas and present a basic conclusion, internally
logical. Presents basic concepts can take a
concept and break it into its parts. Provides a basic answer to the
question.
50% to < 55% C+ 2.50 Undertaken acceptable amount of work, sticks to the question but disjointed, ideas not
linked or not well linked to the foundation of
knowledge.
45% to < 50% C 2.25 Some errors, but not enough to flaw the answer/ argument. 40% to < 45% D 2.00
Superficial work, insufficient research. Some limited research but has not pulled it together.
< 40% F (Fail) 0.00 Doesn’t answer the question, errors which flaw the answer, argument;

What is an equation

In mathematics, an equation is 3

/
a statement that asserts the 1

equality of two expressions, which a

are connected by the equals sign

"=".
15

The process of equating one 3

In Mathematics, an equation deals

with symbols, variables, numbers and
the rules for manipulating it. It states 3

the mathematical relationship are 1

used to find the unknown value by a

creating expressions and solutions.

Now, consider the following algebraic
expression,

What is Constant in Maths

A constant is a value or
number that never changes in 3

expression; it’s constantly the same. 1

For example, in the figure given f

above 36 and 82 are constant because its

face value is 36 and 82 respectively. Its
value never 20
changes.
What are Variables?
A variable is a letter representing
some unknown; a variable always
represents a number, but it carries 3

varying values when written in an 1

expression. i

f
o

By convention, mathematicians P

usually assign letters(not mandatory)

at the end of the alphabet (such as x, y,
and z) to be variables.
