Alfred: AFP confirms presence of US Task Force in Palawan

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has confirmed the existence of US Task Force Ayungin
in Palawan, saying it is operating under the AFP's Western Command. National Security
Adviser Eduardo Año also confirmed the activities of Task Force Ayungin, but clarified that
the unit is internal to the US and that all military activities or operations in the West
Philippine Sea were solely carried out by the Philippines.

The US embassy said that with the Task Force, US forces have improved their ability to work
together with the Philippine military, particularly in helping secure the country's interest in
the West Philippine Sea. The AFP maintains an outpost in the Ayungin Shoal on the
grounded BRP Sierra Madre. The Chinese had repeatedly tried to stop supply missions to
the Sierra Madre using aggressive force.

Vice President Sara Duterte intends to spend her weekend with her chief of staff Zuleika
Lopez at the House of Representatives premises.

The Vice President told reporters at a press conference via Zoom last night, that she was
permitted to stay in Batasang Pambansa office. She even wrote a letter to the House
committee to explain that Lopez might get harmed and is afraid of being alone. And added
a separate letter to Chua that she intends to visit Lopez for the entire detention.

As for Humanitarion Reasons, The Vice President in her letter explained the consideration
for Lopez.
Duterte denied that she was preventing OVP officials from testifying in the House panel
hearings.

In a joint statement, other House leaders and Suarez mentioned the Vice President's
