CONGRUENCE

What is congruence ?
Ans.In geometry, two figures or objects are congruent if
they have the same shape and size, or if one has the same
shape and size as the mirror image of the other.
These triangles are congruent :
• There are totaly 4 rules to find whether 2
triangles are congruent to eachother or not:

The SSS rule :

• SSS means side,side,side

• We can say that 2 triangles are congruent by
using this method when;the three sides of one
triangle is equal to the corresponding three sides
(SSS) of the other triangle, we can say that the
triangles are congruent.
• We can prove that these 2 triangles are congruent
because AC is congruent to YZ
XY is congruent to BA
BC is congruent to XZ

The SAS rule:

• SAS means side,angle,side

• We can say that two triangles are congruent to
eachother if; two sides and the included angle of one
triangle are equal to the two sides and the included
angle of the other triangle.

B is congruent to Q
AB is congruent to PQ
AC is congruent to PR

The AAS rule;

• AAS means Angle,Angle,Side
• When two angles and a non-included side of a
triangle are equal to the corresponding angles
and sides of another triangle, then the triangles are
said to be congruent.

The RHS rule:

• RHS stands for right-hypotenuse-side

• The length of the hypotenuse and one side of one
triangle, is equal to the length of the hypotenuse and
corresponding side of the other triangle, then the two
triangles are congruent.
Y is congruent to B
BC is congruent to YZ
