The chemical changes given aside were
demonstrated at the chemistry lab.

Other Chemical Changes :-
● CH3COOH (Acetic Acid) + NaHCO3 (Sodium Hydrogen

Carbonate) →CH COONa (Sodium Acetate) + H O + CO

○ In the above chemical change, Vinegar is added with
Baking soda and the baking soda turns into Sodium
Acetate And Water and Carbon dioxide .
● Zn (Zinc) + H2SO4 (Sulphuric Acid)→ ZnSO4 (Zinc Sulphate) +
H2 (Hydrogen)
● Zn (Zinc) + HCl (Hydrochloric Acid)→ ZnCl2 (Zinc Chloride) +
H2 (Hydrogen)
○ The above two reactions are possible because Zinc is
more reactive than Hydrogen.

■ Problems:-
● When Vinegar is mixed with baking soda, it forms a gas
named ‘a’. ‘a’ gas is also formed after Respiration. When gas
‘a’ is mixed with water. It forms compound ‘b’. When it is
tested with blue Litmus Paper it turns red .
○ Identify gas ‘a’ and compound ‘b’.
■ ‘a’ is Carbon dioxide (CO2) & ‘b’ is Carbonic Acid
(H2CO3)
○ Write the chemical change during which gas ‘a’ was
formed.
○ Write the chemical reaction in which compared ‘b’ was
formed.
○ Write the nature of compound ‘b’.
● After combustion metal ‘x’ gives white colour flame. Then
Ashes were taken into the petri dish. Then it was mixed with
water to form substance ‘y’. Then it was tested with
phenolphthalein, it gives pink colour.
○ Identify metal x.
○ Name the compound that is formed in ash.
○ Name the Compound ‘y’ and identify its nature.
○ Write the chemical reaction where the ash from the
combustion of metal ‘x’ is formed.
○ Write the equation where compound ‘y’ is formed.
● Homework:-
○ Perform the following activity at home (Steps):
■ Take a test tube.
■ Put vinegar and baking soda in the test tube.
■ Put a balloon on the top.
■ The Balloons slowly become inflated because of
the carbon dioxide that is formed inside the test
tube.
■ Perform the first two steps again and Put a
burning matchstick in it and observe the
matchstick.
■ It gets extinguished.

○ These are formed by prefixing a preposition to a noun,

outside, underneath, within, without.
● Phrase Prepositions
○ Group of words used with the force of a single
preposition.
○ along with; away from; because of; by virtue of; for the
sake of; in accordance with; in addition to; in/on behalf
of; incourse of; in favour of; in front of; in lieu of; in
order to; in spite of; instead of; with a view to; with an
eye to; with reference to; on account of;
○ Use of phrase preposition in sentences:
■ He accepted the car in lieu of his claim for
₹2,25,000.
■ In course of time, He saw his mistake
■ On behalf of the shatt, he read the address.
■ There is a big tree in front of the house
■ Whatever he does, he does with an eye to the
main chance.
■ He abdicated his throne in favour of his eldest son.

suffered a heavy loss.
■ Instead of talking, prove your worth by doing
something.

● Participial Prepositions
○ Barring (= except, apart from) accident, the mail will
arrive tomorrow.

○ Considering (= taking into account) the quality, the

○ Notwithstanding (= inspite of) the resistance offered by
