APPLICATION

1. State five characteristics of human development from a life-span perspective and

their implications to childcare, education and parenting.

Characteristic of human development Educational implication to Child Care,

from a life-span perspective Education and Parenting
1. Development is lifelong This alludes to the process of growth that
happens to a person at any point in their life,
not only in their early years or teenage years.
It suggests that growth continues till the last
breath. Teachers and parents should assist
learners in preparing for the challenges of
life. They should take into account each
student's or child's distinct individuality.
Their strengths, limitations, and skills vary.
They must be tolerant rather than a
perfectionist in your duty as their guardians.
For them to grow, you have to offer support
and direction for each task they have to do.
2. Development is plastic This suggests that development undergoes
modification. The word "plasticity"
describes diversity and focuses on the
possibilities and constraints of human
development. The fact that development is
plastic and that change is possible at any
point in a person's lifespan has consequences
for childcare, education, and parenting.
Given to the plasticity of development, blind
individuals may still be able to perceive
things through touch and auditory cues. For
those who struggle with speech, speech
therapy can be helpful. It is never too late to
learn.
3. Development is This suggests that a person's physical,
multidimensional cognitive, and socioemotional processes set
the stage for their growth. In child care,
outside interventions such as the introduction
of exercise and the provision of nutritious
meals are necessary to support the physical
development of the child. They should learn
mindfulness and be exposed to a healthy
atmosphere for their mental growth.
Regarding socio-
emotional growth, students need to build up
interpersonal abilities. Education also
addresses it as it teaches people how to
improve their physical changes and how to
adhere to them; moreover, connections at
school are prevalent and intellect and
language are enhanced. But in parenting, it's
almost the same as in child care—the only
difference is that the goal is to become "the
best parent" by improving the child's
physical, mental and socioemotional
processes.
4. Development is contextual The lifespan view feature suggests that
development is comprised of three stages:
growth, maintenance and regulation. Since
physical changes are the primary means by
which child development is observed, it is
essential to maintain and regulate the
consumption of healthful meals. Since
knowledge is the basis for progress in
education, it is important to build proper
study habits and control the amount of
knowledge that is ingested. Maintaining
physical health and mental stability becomes
essential when one feels the urge to improve
as a parent, which is where parental growth
is evident.
5. Development take place Development is viewed as a constant
gradually process. For example, a newborn cannot
grow up rapidly. At birth, infants lack teeth
and are incapable of walking, speaking, or
comprehending their surroundings. But
when the moment is right, the development
will happen. After a baby reaches the next
developmental stage, he or she will learn to
walk, communicate, and understand their
surroundings. One of the repercussions for
child care, education, and parenting is that it
becomes challenging to monitor the child's
development. Development is therefore a
process that happens gradually, with
modifications occurring at each step.

2. “Growth is an evidence of life” or “development is an evidence of life”. What does

this mean? What does this imply to a person’s development?

While growth is a sign of life, development occurs everywhere. It's because without
growth, life is impossible. Growth is a sign of life that pertains to an individual's
development. Both nurture and nature play a part in how people grow. The natural
progression of a human's biology from conception to death. The outside look is changing,
both bones and muscles are growing, the physique is developing. Most importantly,
decision-making and critical thinking abilities are enhanced. Even if there are
circumstances in which development may be delayed, growth and development are still
occurring. Conversely, growth is impacted by environmental factors or nurture, people can
grow by means of adapting to their environment as individuals are products of their social
and cultural contexts.
