Intended Audience
The content of this document is designed to facilitate the users -
managers, supervisors and others of PrestaShop Pretty URL Module. A
step-by-step instruction has been added to this document to help users
to install the module on PrestaShop.
As a safe practice always, backup your files and database before installing
any module on PrestaShop. If you are looking for someone to install the
module, we can do it for you as well. Just go to the support section share
the order id to expedite the installation process.

understand on how to use the module to its full capacity. If you still have

Getting Started!
Overview
PrestaShop Advance Pretty URL Module makes SEO friendly URLs of
your store by removing auto generated IDs/numbers from URLs of
your products, categories, manufacturer & other pages. The new
update also includes features like Auto-Generation of Metas,
Robot.txt and Sitemap Generation as well as Full Redirection
Management. This guide will cover all aspects of this module.

Module Configuration
2. Click on URL Cleaner on left hand tab to set up URL Cleaner settings
3. In General tab you can enable or disable Language ISO from URLs. Note that language ISO will
only be removed from the default language.
2. Remove ID From URLs : Enabling this option will remove IDs from URLs of all product pages.
3. Remove ID Attributes : Enabling this option will remove attributes ID from URLs. Attributes ID
usually appear when user selects some other variation of a product for example size or color.
4. Remove Attributes Alias : Enabling this option will remove Alias for Attributes from URLs. These
are appeared as #/1-size-s/8-color-white
5. Redirect OLD URLs to New : This will redirect all old URLs to new ones. It is recommended to
enable it always.
6. Product URL Structure: Here you can change the structure of your product page URLs. Some
examples of how you can rewrite product page URLs are given below

Note: Make sure your metas are properly setup and are related to the niche of your website. To

2. Here you can set meta title, description and keywords for your store homepage. Available
variable for homepage is “shoptitle”.

This will set the meta description for category pages as:
Latest and Greatest Styles For Women from Amazon. Get an amazing discount using special promo.
It is a very tiresome job to write metas for all the product pages. Especially if you have hundreds of
products. Our Module takes care of this problem by using variables. You can use these variables to
generate very effective metas. You can also select the desired language for each of the meta.
1. Write the Meta Title and in place of product name use one of the variables mentioned using
examples below
Example 1:
Buy (variable product name) By (variable product manufacture) For Only (variable retail price) at
(Shoptitle)
Example 2:
1. Write the Meta Descriptions using variables as explained in the example below:

Now you can get hold of our latest (variable product name) By (variable product manufacture) only at
(Shoptitle)
Now you can get hold of our latest Black T-Shirt By Addidas only at Amazon
3. You will be able to see the IDs of products, categories that are causing the conflict.
URL Redirection
2. Click on URL Redirection on left hand side tab. Here you will find all of redirection settings.
3. Redirect Type: Select your redirect type. This depends on the type of server you have.
4. Redirect 404: Here you can select where you 404 error pages are redirected. You can redirect
your error page to:
a. Default
b. Home Page
c. CMS Page
5. Manage URL Redirects: Clicking here will take to a new page where you can add new redirects.
6. First you will select the redirect type. Then enter the old URL and then new URL. There are
usually three redirect types:
a. 301, "Moved Permanently"—recommended for SEO
b. 302, "Moved Temporarily"
c. 303, “See Other” Not generally used
7. Manage 404 Page: Clicking here will take you to a new page where you will be able to see all
your pages with 404 errors. You can also edit redirections for these pages from here:
8. Manage 404 Reports: Clicking here will take you to a new page where you can see a report of all
your pages having 404 error.
Open Graph
2. Click on OpenGraph on left hand side to see following settings. Top you have settings for Twitter
Card and below that you have for Facebook.
9. Twitter Image Alt: Enter alt image tag for this image. You can also use variables to auto create
img alt tag.
Robot.txt Settings
2. Click on Robot.txt on left hand side to see following settings. From here you can not only
generate new Robot.txt file but at the same time can also edit existing one.
3. Add disallow to the links that you want crawler to not crawl.
Sitemap Generator
2. Click on Sitemap Generator on left hand side to see settings for sitemap.
3. On the top it will be showing your last generated sitemaps in different languages
4. Sitemap to Generate: Scroll below and select pages that you want to be included in your site
map i.e all urls, only product page urls, only CMS page urls
6. Update Frequency: Select when you want to update your sitemap from hourly, daily, weekly,
monthly or yearly
7. Generate Links with: Select you want http or https with links.
9. If you are using CDN(Content delivery network) for images and want to include those in the
sitemap as well, check CDN option
10. Checking “Ping Search Engine for new sitemap” will automatically ping google each time new
sitemap is generated
11. If you want to exclude specific pages from sitemap you can select them by checking on them
