(a) It is a proposition with truth value true
(b) It is a proposition with truth value false
(c) It is not propositions
(d ) None of above

Question No: 3 Marks: 2

Inverse of relation R= {(4, x), (2, y)} is

(a)
(b) {(x, 4), (y, 2)}
(c ) {(2, y), (4, x)}
(d) None of the above.

(d) None of the above.
Question No: 6 Marks:05
Define f: R R by the rule f(x) =30x-10 for all x R.
If f is bijective? Prove or give counter example.

Solution:
1st we show that f is 1 to 1.
We only prove that for x1, x2 R
f(x1)=f(x2) then x1=x2
Let f(x1)= f(x2)
30x1-10 = 30x2-10
30x1 = 30x2
So x1 = x2

Hence f(x) is one to one.

Now we show that f is onto.
Since for every f(x) = 30x-10 there is a unique x belong to R.

Note: In order to get full marks do all necessary steps.

Question No: 7 Marks:05

Sum to n terms the series
2.3 + 4.5 + 6.7 + - - -

Solution:
Let Tk = (2+(k-1)2)(3+(k-1)2)
Tk =2k(2k+1)
Tk =4k2+2k
Now Sk = T1 + T2 + T3 + --- +Tn
=

Note: In order to get full marks do all necessary steps.

Question No: 8 Marks:10

Find the matrix representing the relations SoR and RoS where matrices representing R and S are
Note: In order to get full marks do all necessary steps.

Question No: 9 Marks:10

Let A= {a, b, c} and R1, R2 are the relation defined on A
R1={(a, a), (a, b), (b, c), (c, c), (b, b), (a, c)}
R2= {(a, b), (b, a), (a, a)}
Check whether R1 and R2 are reflexive, symmetric and transitive if not give counter example.

Note: In order to get full marks do all necessary steps.

Solution:
For R1:
1- R1 is reflexive
2- R1 is not symmetric as (b, a), (c, b) and (c, a) are not in R1.
3- R1 is transitive.

For R2:
1- R2 is not reflexive as (b, b) and (c, c) is not in R2.
2- R2 is symmetric.
3- R2 is not transitive.
Note: In order to get full marks do all necessary steps.

Question No: 10 Marks:10

Use truth table to determine the argument form

Is valid or not.

Note: In order to get full marks do all necessary steps.

Solution:

P Q R R
T T T T T T T
T T F T T F F
T F T F F T T
F T T F T T T
T F F F F T F
F T F F T F F
F F T F T T T
F F F F T T F

1st row is critical row so the argument is valid.
