driving notes
rmb to check blindspots whenever you turn signal on
go slow in the circuit to have time to react
always check rear window when reversing
stop at every stop line, even when there’s no stop sign
right of way: going straight, turning left, then turning right

CIRCUIT
s course:
. sighting point to turn into course: when less than half the door reaches the curb / when
door lever reaches the curb

. align center of wiper with the curve of the curb, go slow and follow

crank course:
. sighting point to turn into course: when middle of door reaches the curb
. align towards the left before turning right and vice versa

. sighting point to turn within course: when less than half the door reaches the curb /

. try not to keep full lock when exiting course, adjust steering accordingly

directional change:
. sighting point to turn into course: when less than half the door reaches the curb / when

door lever reaches the curb
. go in straight and align the corner of speaker in between black and white tile from the

right
. go slow and stop once pink sticker / around shoulder reaches the second line in
between black and white tile on the right

. check right, left blind spot and rear window before reversing
. signal right, put to reverse gear, slowly reverse and full lock right

. ensure car is towards the right of the lot !! for correction, put to D, turn steering 1

round to the right and slowly inch forward, then straighten once near the front curb,

signal right and put to R again before full locking right, then straighten once car is
straight (don’t need to put to park)
. when turning out, signal left and check all blind spot

. sighting point to turn out of course: when less than half the door reaches the curb /

parallel parking:
**rmb to adjust mirrors before and after**
to park:
. align car nearer to the left curb (white sticker in the middle of dashboard align with
side of left curb), ensure corner of lot can be seen at the bottom 1/3 of left side mirror
. lower right side mirror to see entire wheel
. signal left, check all blindspot, put to reverse gear, then full lock left and reverse
SLOWLY!! check left, right and behind as you’re reversing
. sighting point: when you can see middle line of black and yellow curb in your right
side mirror, stop and straighten steering wheel
. sighting point: reverse straight slowly until right rear wheel touches white line, stop
then full lock right
. reverse with full lock right slowly until entire car is inside the lot, check left side mirror
then straighten wheel, make sure back wheels don’t hit the curb !! can move forward
slightly after straightening if back wheels too close to the curb
. put to park and pull handbrake
to come out:
. put to D and slowly inch forward straight, until curb is below side mirror / top of right
rear wheel aligns with the curb
. put to R, check rear window, full lock left and reverse slowly until wheels are near black
and yellow curb, check side mirrors to make sure wheels don’t hit curb
. shift mirrors back to position
. signal right, check mirrors and right blind spot, full lock right and turn out slowly
. return wheel when end of left side wiper reaches the curb, then form into lane
. ensure the car doesn’t cross center line

vertical parking:
**rmb to adjust mirrors before and after**
to park:
. position car towards right side of the lane, ensure corner of the lot can be seen at the
bottom of left side mirror
. signal left, check mirrors and blindspots, shift to R
. sighting point: when right rear wheel touches crack line on the floor (see right side
mirror), full lock left and reverse slowly into lot
. right before going into lot, check right blind spot as vehicle swings out right
. rmb to check blindspots and rear window while reversing
. once car is straight in the lot (curb on left and right are straight), straighten steering
wheel and reverse straight in, check rear window!!
. once side mirrors cover the curb, stop
. put to park and pull handbrake
to come out:
. adjust mirrors back to original
. signal left, check blindspots and oncoming traffic, put to D and slowly inch forward
. sighting point: when shoulder aligns with the curb, full lock left and turn out
. car will cross center line but it’s ok!! that’s why need to check oncoming traffic before
turning out
. once out of the lot, align with lane

slope:
. accelerate up the slope until the white line
. stop before the white line and apply handbrake
. before moving off, signal right and check blindspot
. release handbrake and accelerate immediately to go up the slope
. apply brake once you’re over the slope to control speed when going down
. stop before stop line

ramp:
to go up:
. align car straight so that both wheels will have equal contact with the ramp (align
corner of speaker in between pole and center line to make sure car is center)
. sighting point: when ramp appears below side mirrors, stop and reduce speed to a
crawl
. sighting point: when ramp aligns with door lever, inch forward slowly until front
wheels touch the ramp, brake immediately
. accelerate enough to get front wheels up the ramp, then brake immediately, without
hitting the pole
. put to P, and pull handbrake to park (for tester to get out and remove pole)
. inch forward slowly until back wheels touch the ramp
. accelerate enough to get back wheels up the ramp, then brake immediately
to go down:
. inch forward slowly until front wheels go down the ramp, then brake immediately
. inch forward slowly more until back wheels go down the ramp, then brake immediately
to reverse up:
. put to P, and pull handbrake (for tester to put back the pole)
. inch backwards slowly until back wheels touch the curb, then brake immediately
. accelerate enough to get back wheels up the ramp, then brake immediately, without
hitting the pole
moving off from ramp:
. go back down the ramp, signal right/ left depending on lane, check blindspots and
move off

emergency brake:
. when tester taps dashboard, brake immediately and firmly, while holding on to steering
wheel with both hands
. when moving off, check rear and side mirrors, signal right, check right blindspot and
move off

ON THE ROAD
changing lanes:
– signal intention early and slow down / speed up depending on traffic
– check rear mirror, then side mirror, then blind spot before changing lanes
– if vehicle in rear mirror is constant / becoming smaller, check blindspot, then change
lanes
– if vehicle in rear mirror is becoming bigger / only half can be seen, slow down and
change lanes after them

overtaking:
– slow down before reaching obstruction, signal intention early
– check mirrors and blindspots before overtaking
– immediately change back to left lane after / when it is safe to

u-turns:
– check right blindspot for cyclists/motorists
– narrow divider uturn: full lock right and turn into middle / left lane, change to left lane

after
– wide divider uturn: full lock left and turn into nearest / right lane, change to left lane
after

others:
check blindspot whenever you signal

remember to stop at every stop sign / stop line

at traffic lights, stop behind yellow box

do not overtake at junctions or bends

when stopping at traffic lights, make sure you can see the back wheels of the vehicle in
front of you OR if it’s a heavy vehicle, keep wider distance

slow down before green light at third arrow, get ready to stop if light changes

when making right turn at a T junction, can inch forward and stop at right turn pocket
(ensure oncoming traffic and pedestrian crossing isn’t blocked)

always slow down near pedestrian and zebra crossings !!

when making right turn, cars from left and right should be at least 6-8 seconds away
