NARRATIVE REPORT
Day 1 Class 2
November 25, 2024

The two-day West District In-Service Training for Teachers on the

Accommodations of Learners with Special Educational Needs was conducted at
Tanjay City South Central School on November 25-26, 2024. The program, managed
by Marlita M. Amor and documented by Hur A. Quibal, aimed to equip teachers with
strategies to support learners with special needs. Day 1 included sessions on
handling learners with mobility, basic learning, and communication difficulties,
featuring interactive activities, group discussions, and shared experiences.

The morning session focused on mobility challenges, facilitated by Michael

Duran and Laarni Epan. Teachers shared personal experiences, and the facilitators
emphasized the importance of assistive devices and adaptive strategies. Activities
were interactive, with participants rewarded for engagement, and the session
concluded with an inspiring message: "See the ability, not the disability."

The afternoon sessions covered learners with basic learning and

communication difficulties. Mrs. Laarni O. Epan highlighted strategies for addressing
processing challenges in reading, writing, and math, as well as methods to support
communication disorders. Teachers actively participated in group discussions,
sharing personal insights and collaborating on practical approaches to classroom
inclusivity.

The program underscored the commitment of educators to foster an inclusive

learning environment. Facilitators exhibited expertise and rapport, while participants
demonstrated enthusiasm and a willingness to adapt inclusive practices. The
training ended with valuable takeaways for improving educational outcomes for
learners with special needs.
