General Instructions :
The question paper is divided into four sections.
(1) Section A : Q. No. 1 contains Ten multiple choice type of questions carrying One mark each.
Q. No. 2 contains Eight very short answer type of questions carrying One mark each.
(2) Section B : Q. No. 3 to Q. No. 14 contains Twelve short answer type of questions carrying Two marks
each.
(3) Section C : Q. No. 15 to Q. No. 26 contains Twelve short answer type of questions carrying Three
marks each.
(4) Section D : Q. No. 27 to Q. No. 31 Contains Five long answer type of questions carrying Four marks
each.
(5) Use of log table is allowed. Use of calculator is not allowed.
(6) Figures to the right indicate full marks.
(7) For each MCQ, correct answer must be written along with its alphabet.

Q.10) A Sonometer wire of length 0.5 m is stretched by a weight of 5 kg. The fundamental frequency of
vibration is 100 Hz. Calculate linear density of wire.
Q.11) A system releases 125 kJ of heat while 104 kJ of work is done on the system. Calculate the change in
internal energy.
Q.12) A horizontal force of 1 N is required to move a metal plate of area 10 -2 m2 with a velocity of 2 × 10 -2
m/ s, when it rests on a layer of oil 1.5 × 10 -3 m thick. Find the coefficient of viscosity of oil.
Q.13) Potential at a point A in space is given as 4 × 10 5 V. (i) Find the work done in bringing a charge of
3 µC from infinity to the point A. (ii) Does the answer depend on the path along which the charge is
brought?

coil, what will be the magnitude of the magnetic field at the center?

Q.28) Starting from the formula for energy of an electron in the nth orbit of hydrogen atom, derive the
formula for the wavelengths of Lyman and Balmer series spectral lines and determine the shortest
wavelengths of lines in both these series.
Q.29) State any two sources of errors in meter bridge experiment. Explain how they can be minimized.
