Quarter: 2
Time:
(9:30-10:25AM)
Grade Level/Section: Grade 9 TECHNICAL DRAFTING Day: MONDAY
s
The learners demonstrate an understanding of concepts and principles in the
CONTENT STANDARD:
preparation of architectural layout and details.
PERFORMANCE The learners shall be able to prepare architectural layout and details based on
STANDARD established industry and/or job requirements.

LEARNING COMPETENCY LO 1. Prepare architectural job requirements

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. identify the different architectural working drawing plans.
I. OBJECTIVE
2. prepare drawing tools, materials and equipment for architectural drawing; and
3. value the standard procedure and proper arrangement of each working drawing
plans.

III. PROCEDURE

Activities PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

Please Stand and let us Pray.
Good afternoon class, how are you today?
Please say present when your name was called.

So, what was our previous lesson?

We discussed about architectural working drawing SHEET #1 and #2
So, what does sheet #1 contains?

Yes, it consists of
SECTIONS, DETAILS, ROOF PLAN AND REFLECTED CEILING PLAN

ACTIVITY 1.
Ok lets have an activity.
I will group you into 5.

Materials Needed:
LESSON PLAN
Computer with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software)
Sample floor plan (either provided or from a previous project)
Reference materials on standard door and window symbols
Access to online resources (optional) for additional symbols and design inspirations

· Creating the Door and Window Schedule:

· Using the sample floor plan, students identify all doors and windows.
Students create a Door and Window Schedule on paper or directly in CAD, including all
specifications (width, height, type, materials, quantity).
Students ensure that door and window symbols match those used in the floor plan and elevation
drawings.
· Drafting Symbols on the Floor Plan:
· Students practice drawing door, window, and staircase symbols to represent these elements
accurately on a given floor plan.
They label each symbol according to its specifications in the schedule, ensuring clarity and
consistency.
WHAT IS IT
(Teacher will ask different questions regarding the activity)
1.What role do doors, windows, and other fixtures (like those in kitchens and bathrooms)
play in the functionality and aesthetics of a building? How do you think their placement
and design impact the overall structure?
2. When looking at a floor plan, how would you identify different elements like doors,
windows, and stairs? Why might it be essential to use standardized symbols for these
elements?
Analysis 3.Consider a typical kitchen or bathroom in a house. What details or specifications do you
think are necessary to include when designing these spaces? Why might it be important to
specify measurements, materials, and types of fixtures?
4.What challenges might arise if a builder or contractor is working from a floor plan
without a clear Door and Window Schedule or without detailed specifications for spaces
like the kitchen and bathroom?
5. How do you think the choice of materials for doors, windows, and kitchen/bathroom
fixtures could affect the durability, maintenance, and overall cost of a building project?
Why might these considerations be relevant to include in a design plan?
Abstraction NEED TO KNOW

(The teacher will present the topic)

Door and Window schedule - A complete specification of doors and windows
in terms of width, height, types, materials and quantity

Door and window symbols that are shown in the floor plan
LESSON PLAN

Symbols of doors and windows that are used to represent

its existence on floor plans and elevation drawings

Door, window and staircase symbols that are shown in the

elevation plans

Kitchen Detail – a drawing of kitchen floor plan with complete

specifications.

Toilet and bath detail – a drawing of toilet and bath floor plan
LESSON PLAN
that shows complete features.

· How do material choices in kitchen and bathroom details (e.g., countertops, cabinetry, fixtures)
influence the overall functionality and maintenance of these spaces? Why is material selection
important in the design phase?
· · Consider the importance of accurate dimensions and scaling in drafting. What potential issues
could arise during construction if dimensions or scaling are inaccurate in the drawings?
· · How does integrating symbols and schedules into a floor plan enhance the overall clarity of the
design for contractors and builders? What other elements would you consider adding to improve
the usefulness of your drawings?
· · After peer review, what insights did you gain about your work? How did the feedback from
your peers help you improve the accuracy or quality of your Door and Window Schedule and detail
drawings?

ACTIVITY.
Ok lets have an activity.
Floor plan tracing
Directions : Given the first floor plan below trace its missing parts and
draw the details on the second floor plan below.

Application

IV. EVALUATION: POST TEST

LESSON PLAN
MULTIPLE CHOICE
1. What information is typically included in a Door and Window Schedule?
a) Color and finish only
b) Quantity, width, height, type, materials
c) Shape and orientation only
d) Maintenance requirements
2. Why is it important to include standardized symbols for doors and windows on floor plans and elevation drawings?
a) To make the floor plan look more complex
b) To reduce the cost of drafting materials
c) To ensure consistency and clear communication with contractors
d) To allow for greater creativity in design
3. Which of the following represents a common symbol for a door in a floor plan?
a) A solid rectangle
b) A dashed line
c) A swinging arc attached to a rectangular shape
d) A dotted circle
4. What is the primary purpose of providing detailed drawings for areas like the kitchen and bathroom?
a) To improve the overall aesthetic of the floor plan
b) To ensure all necessary fixtures and functional elements are properly specified and positioned
c) To reduce the time spent on construction
d) To simplify the process of ordering building materials
5. When designing a kitchen detail, which of the following is NOT typically specified?
a) Cabinet dimensions
b) Location of electrical outlets
c) The type of food to be stored in the kitchen
d) Placement of appliances
6. What is a key reason to include material specifications for doors and windows in a schedule?
a) To give flexibility to contractors on the job site
b) To allow for multiple interpretations of the design
c) To ensure durability, functionality, and aesthetic consistency
d) To meet international regulations for construction
7. Why is it important to indicate the dimensions of fixtures in a bathroom detail?
a) To create a balanced color scheme
b) To ensure fixtures fit and provide adequate space for movement and usage
c) To allow customization by the homeowner
d) To reduce the need for other specifications
8. If a Door and Window Schedule shows a window with dimensions "1200mm x 1000mm," what does this represent?
a) A window with a height of 1200mm and width of 1000mm
b) A window with a height of 1000mm and width of 1200mm
c) A square window
d) A window that is customizable
9. Which of the following best describes the role of elevation plans in relation to doors, windows, and staircases?
a) They help determine the color of each element
b) They provide a three-dimensional view of each element
c) They show the placement and height of each element on walls and facades
d) They allow adjustments to door and window materials
10. In a detailed kitchen plan, why is it important to specify the distance between the sink, stove, and refrigerator (often
called the "kitchen triangle")?
a) To create a larger kitchen space
b) To improve the workflow and efficiency of movement
c) To ensure all appliances are the same size
d) To increase the amount of storage in the kitchen

V. AGREEMENT: The students will research on sheet # 5 in architectural drawing job requirements.

Reflect on the lesson's success in achieving the learning objectives. Consider whether students
REMARKS: were able to clearly explain, apply the different elements of architectural drawings. Adjust future
lessons based on student performance and feedback.
