Summary of the OJT Experience
My on-the-job training (OJT) experience at Warlen Industrial Sales Corporation, based at the VMA Global
College site, was both challenging and rewarding, providing me with diverse learning opportunities across
different aspects of electrical engineering and site safety management.
During the first week, we began with an orientation covering company rules and safety practices, which
was crucial for understanding the protocols necessary to ensure a safe working environment. We focused
on monitoring electrical outlets and extension cords to prevent any potential hazards and documented the
work of personnel assigned to us to ensure compliance with safety standards. Additionally, we took
proactive measures by placing warning signs around hazardous areas and installing barricades and rail
guards on the second level to prevent accidents, reinforcing the importance of safety awareness on-site.
The second week presented tougher challenges as we delved into more technical tasks. We learned how to
use AutoCAD software, a vital tool for designing electrical plans, and applied this knowledge by creating an
electrical layout for the VMA Marine Laboratory. This experience broadened our understanding of electrical
design and the practical applications of software in planning and drafting. Moreover, we assisted in the
installation of a pole for a three-phase transformer, participated in its decommissioning, and helped install
the new transformer on the pole. These hands-on tasks provided invaluable insight into the complexities of
fieldwork, such as handling heavy equipment, following safety protocols, and understanding the logistics of
electrical installations.
In the third and final week, we focused on wrapping up the project by dismantling the remaining service
entrance cables and removing the old panel box from the site. This required careful planning and execution
to avoid safety risks. We also performed an inventory check of all electrical equipment and materials used,
ensuring that everything was accounted for properly. Additionally, we set up a temporary panel board for
circuit breakers and outlets, providing a safe power supply for ongoing activities on-site.
Overall, my OJT at Warlen Industrial Sales Corporation was a comprehensive learning experience that
balanced both technical skills and practical site work. I gained significant knowledge in electrical design,
installation, and safety management, which will be invaluable in my future career as an electrical engineer.
The hands-on experience reinforced my understanding of the importance of precision, safety, and
teamwork in completing complex electrical projects.

Assessment of the OJT/Practicum Program
A. During this OJT, I acquired new skills in using AutoCAD for electrical design and gained hands-on
experience in installing, decommissioning, and managing electrical equipment, such as transformers and
panel boards. I developed a stronger attitude toward safety, recognizing its importance in every aspect of
construction work.
B. I observed the practical applications of electrical theories, such as circuit design and load management,
while creating electrical plans and setting up temporary power systems. Additionally, I saw the principles of
electrical distribution in action when assisting with transformer installation and decommissioning.
C. The company provided a well-rounded training experience, but more structured guidance on complex
tasks and detailed feedback sessions would enhance learning. Providing access to additional learning
materials or resources could further help trainees.
D. I gained a comprehensive understanding of both design and fieldwork, blending theoretical knowledge
with practical applications. The OJT strengthened my problem-solving skills, adaptability, and confidence in
handling various electrical tasks.
E. One challenge was managing the balance between learning new skills, like AutoCAD, and handling
physically demanding tasks such as transformer installation. Additionally, there were instances of unclear
task instructions and limited availability of necessary tools and materials, which sometimes caused delays
and confusion. Despite these obstacles, the experience ultimately strengthened my adaptability and
problem-solving abilities.
