Dr G Sai Saravanan, OS & Sc ‘H', Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), Delhi, has
been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gallium Arsenide Enabling
Technology Centre (GAETEC), Hyderabad, on 1 November 2024. He joined SSPL
in 1991 and moved to GAETEC in 2000 to form and head the SSPL MMIC Research
Centre (SMRC). Dr Saravanan completed his MSc (Physics) from Bharathidasan
University, Tamil Nadu, MTech. in Laser & Electro-optical Engineering from
College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, and PhD from School of Physics,
University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. He was awarded the ‘Outstanding Teamwork
Award’ from SA to RM in 2001, ‘Scientist of the Year’ in 2003, ‘National Technology
Day Oration’ in 2010, and ‘Technology Group Award’ in 2010, and the ‘Reviewer
of the Year 2016’ award from the Institute of Physics Publishing (IoP), UK, for peer review for the
international journal Semiconductor Science and Technology in its year of inception.
Smt Krishnakumar R, Sc ‘E’, Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), Kochi,
has been awarded a PhD under the faculty of Science from Cochin University of Science and
Technology for the thesis titled ‘Simulation and Experimental Validation of Self-Noise in
