DEFENCE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION

aim: It is the premier research and development agency of the ministry of defense, Government of India. It was established in 1958 with the aim of developing
indigenous defense technologies and systems to enhance India's self reliance in the defense sector
DRDO is headed by the secretary, department of
defense research and development , who also serves
as chairman of DRDO.
◦Name of chairman=Samir V. Kamta, Secretary,
Department of Defense Research and Development
(DDR&D) and Chairman, DRDO for a period of one
year from June 01, 2024 till May 31, 2025 or until
further orders, whichever is earlier,” a notification
from the Department of Personnel and Training said
DRDO has been involved in the
development of a wide range of
defense technologies and
systems, including missiles,
combat vehicles, aircraft,
electronic warfare systems, radars
and naval systems
recent works or current affairs of DrDo

Now lets look into some recent current affairs about the DRDO

(I) On 24 July ,2024 DRDO successfully flight- tested the phase-


II Ballistic missile defense systems AD endo- atmospheric
missile from LC - III at ITR , Chandipurat.
(ii)On 28 may 2024, DRDO successfully test- fired the
indigenously developed anti- radiation missile RudraM -II from
the Indian air force Su 30- MK I fighter aircraft off the coast of
Odisha.
(iii) On 27 June 2024, the high speed expendable aerial target '
ABHYAS' successfully completed development trials with an
improved booster configuration
future prospects of DRDO:

With this DRDO has some future prospects


also like DRDO continues to focus on
developing cutting edge defense
technologies to meet the evolving needs
of the Indian armed forces. Like artificial
intelligence (AI ), robotics, quantum
technologies and hypersonic vehicles.
