Car Slot Detection and Control System Report
Car Slot Detection and Control System Report
DESCRIPTION
The Car Slot Detection and Control System is designed to monitor and manage parking spaces
efficiently. Using PIR sensors, the system detects the presence of cars in designated slots and
provides real-time feedback via an LCD display. This project is ideal for smart parking solutions,
optimizing space usage and enhancing user convenience.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
Circuit Diagram
The circuit diagram illustrates the connection of the Arduino Uno with four PIR sensors, an LCD
display for status monitoring, and a motor driver IC (L293D) for controlling output devices. The
system is powered by a 5V supply and uses resistors for signal conditioning.
Component Explanations
1. PIR Sensors
Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensors are used to detect motion by sensing changes in infrared radiation.
In this project, four PIR sensors are connected to the Arduino to monitor motion in four different
directions or zones. They are essential for detecting intrusions or movements in specific areas.
2. Arduino Uno
The Arduino Uno microcontroller serves as the brain of the system. It processes the input signals
from the PIR sensors and makes decisions based on the detected motion. The Arduino also
controls the LCD display, the motor driver, and the buzzer.
4. LCD Display
The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is used to show system statuses, such as which PIR sensor has
detected motion. It provides real-time feedback to users, making the system more interactive and
user-friendly.
5. Buzzer
The buzzer is used as an audible alert to indicate motion detection. When motion is detected by
any of the PIR sensors, the buzzer sounds an alarm to notify the user.
6. Resistors
Resistors are used for signal conditioning and to limit current to protect the components. They
ensure proper functioning and prevent damage to the PIR sensors and other sensitive devices.
7. Power Supply
The entire system is powered by a 5V DC supply, which is sufficient for all components,
including the Arduino Uno, PIR sensors, LCD, and motor driver.
ADVANTAGES
1. Limited Precision
PIR sensors only detect motion and cannot measure exact distances. This might lead
to false triggers if a car is nearby but not occupying the parking space.
2. False Positives/Negatives:
PIR sensors can be triggered by any heat source, such as pedestrians, animals, or
environmental heat variations, leading to inaccurate readings.
3. Environmental Sensitivity:
PIR sensors can be less effective in extreme temperatures or under direct sunlight,
which might affect their reliability in outdoor parking systems
4. Scalability Challenges
Adding more parking slots or enhancing the system might require additional
components and significant reprogramming, making the system less flexible
compared to advanced technologies.
