Question 1:
What is the null hypothesis, and why do we use it in statistical tests?
Answer:
NULL Hypothesis represent that there is not any change or effect in the assumption and
difference is being in the population or we can say variables example watching movie has
no stress on the eyes.
We use in the statistical tests because if the p – value is less than 0.05 we reject the HŌ
and there is any effect and if its P—value is more than 0.05 there is not any change and
effect in the and we fail to reject H0.
Question 2:
What’s the difference between a two-tailed test and a one-tailed test?
Answer: in the one tailed test we know the lower or higher and in the two tailed test we know
the direction the direction of the two whether it will work or not.
Question 3: Create your dataset in SPSS and write down the steps you took below.
Steps Taken:
FIRST we open the spss window and go to the variable view tab at the bottom
Then fill your all data in the columns of area a and area b
Aftere enterning data in the spreadsheet click file in save as buttons to save your data set.
The table below shows the observed pollution indexes of air samples in two
areas of a city. Test the hypothesis that the mean pollution indexes are the
same for the two areas. (Use α = 0.05.)
Area A Area B
2.92 4.69 1.84 3.44
1.88 4.86 0.95 3.69
5.35 5.81 4.26 4.95
3.81 5.55 3.18 4.47
Question4; Hypotheses:
o H₀ (null): The area a and area b have same mean pollution index (H average 1 =
H average 2)
o H₁ (alt): The area a and area b have different mean pollution index ( H0 average
is not equal to the average of H1 and H2.
Interpretation:
Sig. (2-tailed) Value: __________yes we will reject the h0_________________
Do you reject H₀? Yes / No
