G2 Assignment 1

The document outlines a project management assignment for a Computer Lab electrical works project, detailing the work breakdown structure (WBS), critical path, and resource allocation under various constraints. It includes calculations for labor effort and utilization across different scenarios, emphasizing the impact of constraints on project duration and resource management. Additionally, it presents target plans for hardware, software, testing, and delivery activities for a project involving 10 users.

8 E80 Data-Show 1 E40 2

9 E90 Final Test 1 E50,E60,E70,E80 2

Step One: Network Diagram

Critical Path:
The Critical Path for the project is (E10 – E20 – E30 – E40 – E60 – E90) With total project
duration equal to 9 days

Target Plan and Resource Allocation

Assignment #1-A: No Constrains

Max Labour Effort = 8 workers (Day 7) * 9 Days (Total Duration) = 72 man – day
Used Labour Effort = Total number of workers in all days = 36 man – day
Labour Utilization = 36/72 = 50%
Assignment #1-B: Constrain: Max 4 workers in a day
Therefore, total duration will be 10 Days
Max Labour Effort = 4workers * 10 Days (Total Duration) = 40 man – day
Used Labour Effort = Total number of workers in all days = 36 man – day
Labour Utilization = 36/40 = 90%

Assignment #1-C: Constrain: Max Duration is 7 Days

Project Duration: 7 Days

Workers will be increased in Day 1 and Day 4 for 8 workers
Max Labour Effort = 8 workers * 7 Days (Total Duration) = 56 man – day
Used Labour Effort = Total number of workers in all days = 36 man – day
Labour Utilization = 36/56 = 64%
Assignment #1-D: Constrain: Max Workers is 4 per day & Max Duration is 7 Days
To be able to solve this constrains we need to let the activities overlap each other, but since that
all of them are Finish to Start relation. It’s not possible to maintain both constrains therefore, we
need either to increase the work limit or the duration of the project.
Question 2 Data:
Project: Computer Lab 10 users

Assignment #1-E: Target Plan & Resource Allocation

Project: Computer Lab 10 users
• Number of Users = 4 units
• Hardware Activity = 3 Hours/unit
• Software Activity = 2 Hours/unit
• Testing Activity = 1 Hour/unit
• Delivery = 1 Hour/unit

Constraints: Max. # Workers = (Default) Max. Duration = (Default)

Based on this information, Construct the target plan.
