Mathematics Sample Question Paper

Class: 7th | Marks: 40 | Time: 1.5 Hours

General Instructions:

1. All questions are compulsory.

2. Write neat and clear solutions with proper steps wherever applicable.

3. The marks for each question are mentioned against it.

Section A: 1 Mark Each


(Attempt all questions. Each question carries 1 mark.)

1. Write the additive inverse of -5/6 and verify it using addition.

2. Simplify: 3^2 × 2^3.

3. A square has a side length of 7/2 cm. Write its perimeter in fractional form.

4. Identify the like terms in the expression: 3x^2 + 5xy - 7x + 4x^2 - 2y.

5. Compare -11/15 and -9/10 using a number line or cross multiplication.

6. Write (2^3)^4 as a single power of 2 and simplify.

7. A rectangle has a length of 6.5 m and breadth of 4.5 m. Write the formula to calculate its
perimeter and substitute the given values.

8. Simplify: 4x^2 + 3x - 7 + 2x^2 - x - 5.

9. Express 0.00456 in standard form.

10. Find the reciprocal of -9/11.

Section B: 2 Marks Each


(Attempt all questions. Each question carries 2 marks.)

11. Subtract -5/8 from 3/4 and simplify the result.

12. Solve for x in the equation: 5x + 7 = 3x + 13.

13. A triangle has a base of 12 cm and height 7 cm. Find its perimeter if the other two sides
are 10 cm and 15 cm.

14. Evaluate: ((3^2)^3) / (2^4) and simplify your answer.


Section C: 3 Marks Each

15. Arrange in ascending order: -5/6, -2/3, -7/12. Show your work using LCM.

16. Expand and simplify: (2x - 5)(x + 3).

17. A rectangular field has a length of 65 m and breadth 45 m. Find its area and the cost of
laying grass at ₹35 per square meter.

18. Simplify: (3 × 10^4) ÷ (6 × 10^2) and express the result in standard form.

Section D: 5 Marks Each


(Attempt all questions. Each question carries 5 marks.)

19. A trapezium has parallel sides measuring 18 cm and 12 cm, and the distance between
them is 9 cm. Find its area. If the cost of painting the trapezium is ₹50 per square cm,
calculate the total cost.

20. The side of a square is represented by 2x + 3. a. Write an expression for its perimeter
and simplify. b. Write an expression for its area and simplify. c. If x = 5, find its perimeter
and area.
