4. Define verbal communication.
Verbal communication is a type of communication where information is exchanged between
the sender and the receiver using speech or words. It is the most common type of
communication. It can be used by to have personal conversation with your family, friends
and relatives and with the people you know. Verbal communication can further be classified
as:
Oral communication : Oral communication is the communication where we communicate by
speaking some words or sentences.
Written communication: Written communication is the way of communicating the
information by either writing or typing for printing some symbols it is an important way of
communication.

5. Describe different types of verbal communication.


6. List the advantages and disadvantages of verbal communication.
Advantages of verbal communication :
1. Reliable and flexible mode of communication
2. It becomes effective if proper words are used for communicating the message.
3. It provides complete understanding of message being delivered.
4. Feedback is instant.
5. It saves time.
6. It is cheaper way of communication.
Disadvantages of verbal communication :

1. May become difficult to understand if improper terms and languages used


2. Emotions are visible and may lead to trouble in certain situations.
3. Lengthy messages cannot be communicating using this mode.
4. It does not provide permanent record and has no legal validity
7. Explain non-verbal and visual communication and their importance.

Non verbal communication is communication using body language, facial expressions and
gestures to convey information to others.
Non verbal communication is helpful when we are trying to understand other’s feelings and
thoughts. This type of communication can be intentional or unintentional

Importance of non-verbal communication


1. Easy representation through visuals
2. It becomes attractive as it uses visuals pictures graph signs etc.
3. It reduces the wastage of time as the message reaches to the receiver very fast and
easily understood.
Visual communication: Visual communication is the act of using images, drawings, sketches,
charts, animations and videos to convey information. Human beings are visual learners. They
have remarkable ability to grasp the ideas and information in the form of visuals. This form
of communication is generally used at professional level.
Importance of visual communication
It provides appropriate information along with the written or verbal communication.

Sentences where the subject does an action are known to be in the Active voice, whereas
sentences in which the subject receives an action are known to be in the Passive voice

17. Describe the important elements of a paragraph.


Important elements of a paragraph are:
Sentence: The first sentence in a paragraph is important as it introduces the topic of the
paragraph. All the sentences that follow the first sentence will contribute to the topic
sentence.
Contributing sentences: The contributing sentences must lead logically to the concluding
sentence. This means you need to present it in some kind of order which maybe
chronological order, order of importance or relating each sentence to other using some
logic.
Coherence: The order of the sentences must always bring coherence, so that the paragraph
craft it is easy to understand.
