Dependency Path Tab

The Dependency Path Tab in Deswik.IS allows users to manually create and adjust paths of dependencies between tasks. It provides options to set task types, lag, priority, and visibility of task graphics, as well as features for updating and clearing the grid. Users can also add selected paths, extend existing paths, or create new ones based on selected tasks.

Dependency Path Tab
When manually creating a path of dependencies, use this tab to view the tasks that form the path and adjust the task sequence as
required.

Before you run this command, in the Deswik.IS window, click Dependency Creation to display the Dependency Creation dialog.

Instructions:

1. In the Dependency Creation dialog, click the Dependency path tab.

2. Use the following table to assist you with the options on this tab.

Field Description

Grid Use and at the bottom of the grid to move multiple rows at once.
Field  Description
Task ID: Read-only; Displays the unique identifier for the task.

Description: Read-only; Displays a description of the task.

Type: Select the type of dependency to go from the previous task to the current task.

Lag: Set the lag on the dependency going from the previous task to the current task.

Layer: Specify the layer of the dependency going from the previous task to the current task.

Resource Name: Read-only; Displays the names of any resources applied to the task.

Priority: Set the task priority.

You can also use the and buttons to move the selected row and adjust the dependencies in
 the selected path to match the new order in the grid.

Hide the task graphics that match your selection in the Applies to field.

Unhide the task graphics that match your selection in the Applies to field.

Set the transparency of the task graphics that match your selection in the Applies to field to the value
defined in the Project Options dialog.

Set the transparency of the task graphics that match your selection in the Applies to field to 100%.

Click to renumber the Priority for the tasks in the dependency path. For each path in the grid, the priority
of the tasks will be set to '1' for the first task in the path and increment for each successive task.

This feature works on all paths in the grid regardless of the setting in the Apply to field.

Apply to Select which task graphics will be affected when changing the visibility or transparency. Choose between
All tasks, Visible task graphics, Selected task graphics, All tasks in grid, or Selected task rows.
Field Description

Hides all of the task graphics and their associated dependencies.

Displays all of the task graphics and their associated dependencies.

Reverse the dependencies between all tasks in the grid. If there are multiple paths in the grid, all paths
will be reversed.

Reverse the dependencies between selected tasks in the grid.

Multiple rows can be selected to reverse multiple dependencies in one go.


 The selected rows do not need to be adjacent to each other.

Add selected Click to populate the grid with any paths from the selected task graphics. This will edit existing paths in
the grid. When you click the button, the Select Dependency Path Graphics dialog appears.

Entity selection: Select the task graphics that represent the tasks to read the paths from.
Field Description

Visible entities: Select all visible entities in the Model Space.

Selected entities: Select all entities currently selected in the Model Space.

If you select this option but you did not preselect any entities before running the command,
 you will be prompted to do so when you click OK . Right-click after you make your
selection to run the command. For certain commands, this option is unavailable if you do
not preselect entities.

Selected layer: Select all entities on the current selected layer.

Active layer: Select all entities on the current active layer.

Specified layers: Select all entities on one or more existing layers. To browse for the
layers, click 0 to the right to display the Multiple Layer Selection dialog. The total number
of selected layers will appear on the button.

See Multiple Layer Selection for detailed instructions on the options in this dialog.

Task types: Select the checkbox beside each task type to filter which tasks are examined for
paths. You can choose from your parent or derived tasks.

Dependency layers: Select the checkbox beside each layer that you want search for paths.

Click OK . Deswik.IS will clear the grid on the Dependency path tab and populate it with all the paths
that travel through the selected tasks.

Update grid Click to update the grid information to reflect the true paths between the tasks that are in the grid. You
would do this after manually deleting dependencies to have the grid information reflect the manual
alterations.

Clear grid Click to clear all of the rows from the grid. No dependencies will be deleted when the grid is cleared.
Field Description

Auto select Select this checkbox to select the task graphics when you select the associated row in the grid.

Extend path Click to extend an existing path, creating new dependencies from the end of the path currently selected
in the grid. If no path exists in the grid, a new path will be created.

New path Click to create a new path from a selected task, adding the new path to the bottom of the grid.

3. Proceed to the next tab or select OK .

OR

Click Close .
